General Description of Position
Under the general direction and supervision of the Director, Child Development Center, Summer Camp Staff perform the duties necessary to assist the Project Coordinator in planning and carrying out a hands-on and educational summer camp program for school-aged children, five through the age of twelve years old. Summer Camp Staff work directly with the children doing various crafts, games, and field trips. Summer Camp Staff should be comfortable driving a fifteen passenger or mini-van. Staff will receive transportation training.
Temporary part-time and temporary full-time are available for the Summer. Scheduled hours are Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:30am and 6:00pm. This position is a temporary seasonal position with an anticipated start date of mid-May 2024 and an anticipated end date of August 23, 2024. These positions are not eligible for company benefits. This position will be paid $13/hour.

Essential Functions

  • Work collaboratively with the Project Coordinator assisting in carrying out the Summer Camp plans and activities.
  • Assist and cooperate with Project Coordinator, other staff, and students who are involved in the Summer Camp program.
  • Supervising and interacting with the children enrolled in the Summer Camp program during scheduled hours.
  • Flexibility in classroom reassignment throughout the Child Development Center, when necessary.
  • Be responsible for maintaining general appearance of the classroom used, and assist in maintaining cleanliness and appearance of other rooms.
  • Responsible for upholding all program and state licensing requirements and regulations.

Marginal Functions

  • May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required.
  • Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College. Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification. Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Group supervision of school age children or related experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to (50) fifty pounds for short distances, move tables, chairs, and media equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in writing, in person, and on the phone.
  • Ability to use basic computer skills.
  • The individual must possess the above skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED; and
  • Approximately 1 year (1500 clock hours) plus verifiable experience or volunteer experiences working with organized groups of children OR willingness to participate in 45 clock hours of training planned by the program supervisors OR producing 3 credit hours of child development/education or related course work.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to Qualify for Auto Insurance Coverage

  • Have a high school diploma or GED; and
  • Approximately 1 year (1500 clock hours) plus verifiable experience or volunteer experiences working with organized groups of children OR producing 3 credit hours of child development/education or related course work.
Salary
$13 per hour
