Job Title: Grow Your Own Coordinator (Districtwide) The role will help lead and manage a menu of “Grow Your Own” projects designed to support Faribault individuals interested in careers in education (including and especially those interested in teaching careers). This is a grant-funded position, with funding support through the 2027-28 school year.
Serve as the primary contact for the menu of Grow Your Own initiatives within Faribault Public Schools
Develop and implement a marketing and outreach plan about the Faribault Grow Your Own opportunities
Lead recruitment efforts for the Grow Your Own pathways, including assisting potential candidates with their fellowship applications
Provide staff support to the Faribault Teaching Fellows Council and the Rice County Early Childhood Fellows Council, who will oversee selection of local Grow Your Own recipients
Recruit, train, and support the Mentor Teachers working with Grow Your Own candidates in different Faribault Grow Your Own programs
Complete biweekly navigation meetings with middle and high school students in the Future Faribault Teachers Grow Your Own program
Organize and lead Future Teacher Clubs at Faribault Middle School and Faribault High School
Assist with arranging group college visits to Minnesota postsecondary institutions for students interested in education careers
Assist with the supervision of the project’s AmeriCorps Promise Fellow
Assist Grow Your Own participants with their postsecondary applications and financial aid paperwork
Complete required data tracking and evaluation implementation
Assist with all required grant reports
Required qualities
Postsecondary degree, preferably in education, social work, or counseling or comparable experience
Ability to quickly build positive relationships with youth and adult partners
Ability to maintain focus on long-range goals while simultaneously carrying out intermediate action steps
Ability to understand multiple diverse perspectives and build consensus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Highly organized with superior attention to detail
Capable of completing work on time in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude – excellent ability to multitask and troubleshoot issues
Ability to work with minimal supervision and as a member of a team
Ability to work select evening and weekend hours
Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and Google Suite
Preferred Qualities:
Bilingual in English and Spanish or Somali
Previous experience in academic advising, project management, community outreach, grant-funded initiatives, or related work
