License Requirement: Current Minnesota Pre K-12 School Psychologist License

Position Summary:
Facilitate learning by promoting the cognitive, social and personal development of students across all settings.

Primary Job Functions:
Conduct comprehensive psycho-educational assessments.
  • Administer tests and rating scales as per evaluation plan.
  • Conduct systematic observations and structured interviews.
  • Interpret evaluation results, verbally and in writing.
  • Facilitate team meetings to discuss results, determine eligibility, and identify student needs.
  • Integrate team's evaluation findings in a comprehensive evaluation report that meets legal and professional standards.
  • Facilitate the development of individualized evaluation plan with team members.
Develop, implement, and evaluate academic and behavioral interventions for students.
  • Demonstrate and educate staff in your building on understanding of disabilities and the ways they may impact education - per Minnesota criteria.
  • Assist school staff with child-find activities, e.g., building pre-referral and referral process, early childhood screening, district assessments, and other agency referrals.
  • Lead staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating functional behavioral assessments, transition plans, behavior and academic interventions, etc. Consult with teachers regarding FBA Procedures, review, and as necessary conduct FBAS on students with high Behavior in your assigned building.
  • Participate in data collection activities necessary to develop, implement, and evaluate interventions and progress.
Provide district and building leadership and facilitation for building student support teams.
  • Serve as a liaison between Special Services Office and building sites.
  • Participate and share information from regularly scheduled central student support team activities.
  • Oversee special education process at sites and programs.
  • Assist building teams with developing proactive processes and problem solving with knowledge in District resources and curriculum.
  • Plan and provide training as needed at building levels.
Provide a broad range of professional services to students, staff, families, and the community.
  • Actively engage, collaborate, and consult with students, families, and community-based service providers in promoting school success for students, developing intervention strategies to assist with programming for students.
  • Provide direct or in-direct related services to help meet the needs of students with education plans (IEPs, IIIPs, and IFSPs).
  • Develop plans and assist with crisis intervention at building and/or district levels and help facilitate social group skills as needed.
  • Work with students in crisis to help learn calming techniques, enabling students to problem solve on their own without assistance.
Oversee due process procedures for students with disabilities and their families.
  • Implement federal and state rules and laws according to district practice and procedure.
  • Implement and maintain record keeping system that results in district compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Keep current in the profession through professional reading, continuing education, and ongoing collaboration with colleagues.

Job Specifications (Education, License, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Required:
  1. Minnesota licensure as a School Psychologist
  2. Experience working with school aged children.
  3. Strong communication skills
  4. Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
  5. Ability to perform routine computer functions, including the use of email, Microsoft Word and due process system.
  6. Communicates with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community in a positive and responsive way that is consistently welcoming and enhances effective work relationships.
  7. Demonstrates an appreciation of diversity in all interactions and job functions.
