South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind is Hiring a Store Manager Near Meridian, MS

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for store management and operations, while serving and meeting customer expectations. Meet sales and profit goals, maintain effective inventory levels and personnel supervision. Ensures compliance with company policies and directives, blind labor requirements, the Ability-One Program, and MOA/Contract objectives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitors sales and ensure financial objective are met per goals and objectives.
  • Maintain store staff by assisting HR with recruiting, selecting, orienting and training new employees; maintains blind employment staffing requirements; ensure all employees are trained in blindness awareness
  • Promotes and maintains outstanding customer service relationships with customer base, local contracting office and senior base leadership
  • Identifies current and future customer requirements by establishing rapport with potential and actual customers and other persons in a position to understand service requirements
  • Acquires and retains new government and commercial customers both on and off base per local objectives
  • Supervises store staff to include scheduling, delegating, managing performance thru coaching, counseling and feedback; training to understand operational requirements and the AbilityOne program
  • Protects employees and customers by providing a safe and secure working and shopping environment
  • Monitors and maintains Essentially the Same (ETS) requirements and ensure an ETS free inventory
  • Coordinates maintenance for building and equipment as required
  • Monitors inventory levels to maintain target (established) turn rates
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
  • Ensure availability of merchandise and provides special quoting to customers
  • Contributes to team efforts by promoting and accomplishing goals and objectives
  • Maintains the stability and reputation by ensuring compliance with all requirement outlined in local contract

  • JOB Qualifications:
  • Must be highly proficient in retail operations, management and budgeting
  • Requires minimum of 5 years’ experience in retail operations with strong leadership skills and customer focus
  • Degree in Retail/Business management is preferred but not essential
  • Excellent knowledge of general inventory principals
  • Must be a team leader, have good communication skills and be able to properly train and coach personnel
  • Delegation skills to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Familiar with military and government organizations and acronyms and have an understanding of military supply and logistics and the AbilityOne program
  • Excellent computer skills and understand database management
  • Current state drivers license and proof of insurability
