Arts and Enrichment Manager

(Full Time, Exempt)

Hiring Range is $60,367 to $75,394 annually based on qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position.

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Recreation, this position is responsible for the overall development and delivery of the District’s diverse Arts & Enrichment programming which serves community participants of all ages and backgrounds. Manages all programs including: dance, theater, visual arts, music, photography, crafts, workshops, camps, active adult trips & tours, special events, and esports. Supervises The Lone Tree Hub facility including front desk staff, maintenance, rentals and special events. Supervises staff, manages budgets, and serves as a community liaison.

Essential Duties:

  • Directs and supervises the daily work activities of (4) full-time and over (40) part-time Arts and Enrichment personnel, instructors, contractors, and volunteers. Administers and adheres to District policies.
  • Plans and leads the daily operations of the Arts and Enrichment programs located within multiple District facilities. Works closely with staff and instructors ensuring consistent delivery of quality programs.
  • Lead the daily operations of The Lone Tree Hub customer service and maintenance/custodial staff to ensure a high level of customer service, cleanliness, general facility maintenance and support of program schedules through various facility set-ups.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with communities and families. Creates a welcoming and responsive culture.
  • Develops competent and productive staff by conducting employee training with an emphasis on safety, quality customer service, and establishing customer loyalty.
  • Determines staffing needs and creates schedules. Reviews and approves employee bi-weekly timesheets. Works directly with the Payroll Department to resolve any pay issues.
  • Hires, trains, schedules, supervises and evaluates personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies.
  • Prepares and monitors budget, manages revenues and expenditures and prepares financial reports. Prepares purchase orders, RFP’s, and invoice requests. Prepares short and long-range revenue/expenditure projects, checks revenue streams, identifies grant opportunities, etc. Develops and implements strategies to increase usage of assigned areas. Calculates program fees to meet cost-recovery goals. Formulates comprehensive business plans by researching and analyzing market information is essential.
  • Recommends fees and charges for assigned area consistent with District policy and philosophy. Understands and establishes cost recovery levels for all programs.
  • Provides leadership and direction of short and long range plans and goals within the Division.
  • Participates in Public Art Committee meetings. Communicates with various artists who submit work to the Committee. Notifies them of approval or denial of art work submitted for consideration. Organizes artist presentations to the Public Art Committee for exhibit approvals.
  • Schedules monthly art hanging and notifies Coordinators for assistance and participation.
  • Oversees dance recital programming.
  • Identifies external funding opportunities. Submits grant proposals. Persuasively communicates program goals to potential funders to obtain funding needed to maintain exceptional programming.
  • Manages programming and facility rentals for the Lone Tree Hub.
  • Drafts contracts for contracted programs and manages vendor relationships.
  • Works with Communications staff to develop marketing and program plans and catalog preparation. Promotes community awareness of programming and special events and evaluates customer satisfaction.
  • Attends and participates in professional group meetings; maintain awareness of new trends and developments in the recreation field; incorporates new developments as appropriate into programs.
  • Determine community needs by evaluating programs, classes and activities; make recommendations for improvement for future development, and implement changes. Surveys and educates the community on department offerings.
  • Assists in coordinating special events (i.e. summer concerts, Craft Fair etc.) throughout the District.
  • Reviews and approves credit card and purchase order transactions. Produces various reports as needed.
  • Ensures proper training of employees in CPR/AED & First Aid use. Ensures proper safety and risk management procedures at the facility. Completes all incident/accident reports and follow-up according to District procedures in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a culture of providing excellent customer service and ensures consistency across all facilities and programs. Responds tactfully and in a timely fashion to inquiries and problems in person, by email, phone and mail providing helpful information and explanations in line with District policies and procedures. Thoughtfully handles confrontational or stressful interactions.
  • Must have the ability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays as may be required.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and trainings.
  • Attend work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in a Recreation Management, Cultural Arts, or Humanities programs or closely related field of study.
  • Two (2) years of experience developing and supervising recreational programming in a cultural arts setting strongly preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements:

  • CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver License or the ability to obtain upon hire and maintain an acceptable driving record.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of recreation and cultural arts programming and its application.
  • Knowledge of safety and emergency first-aid procedures.
  • Knowledge of planning and organization of programming and budget evaluation.
  • Skills in implementing and managing all aspects of programming, and community relations, and supervising employees.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to successfully establish and maintain safe environments and perform first aid and/or CPR.
  • Must be highly motivated and take direction well with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbally.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service and get along with coworkers, patrons, and supervisors and interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner.

Material and Equipment Used:

To successfully perform the required job duties, this position may regularly use sports and recreation equipment. Also uses a phone, computer, printer, fax and other office equipment. This position may operate a motor vehicle and/or van to drive passengers to various locations.

Working Environment:

This position primarily works in busy Recreation Centers and comfortable office environment subject to continuous interruptions and background noises. Occasionally works outside subject to variable weather conditions, ecosystems and landscape. This position may need to drive a personal vehicle to various District facilities.

Physical Requirements:

Stand, walk, sit for extended periods, handle and operate objects and office equipment, reach outward and above shoulder and carry, pull, push or lift up to 20 lbs. May occasionally climb, crawl, squat, kneel and lift up to 30 lbs. The employee must be able to see close up and at a distance with vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus allowing a broad field of vision. The employee must communicate clearly and effectively, must understand and be understood.
