South Shore Educational Collaborative is seeking a full time Reading teacher to support students ages 3 years-21 years with a variety of complex social/emotional/behavioral and learning challenges including students with complex disabilities in the areas of academics, functional life skills, vocation and community based instruction. The primary duties include: Providing direct services to specific students who have been identified as needing more literacy support than can be provided by the classroom teacher. Position works with students 1:1, in small groups and in classroom settings from elementary through the secondary level. MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Certification in Moderate (k-8 or 5-12) or Severe Special Needs (all levels) preferred or Massachusetts Academic or Reading Specialist license requiredApplicants should have strong communication skills, familiarity with reading and writing assessments, evaluative report writing skills, knowledge of curriculum and curriculum modification, behavioral support skills and technology skills (i.e. experience with assistive technology, augmentative communication and use of online educational platforms).
