South Shore Bank is seeking temporary/seasonal tellers during the summer months of June – August, 2024, to provide our branch teams with additional support. Tellers receive and pay out money and keep records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Receives checks and cash for deposit, verifies amount, and examines checks for endorsements.
• Cashes checks and pays out money after verification of signatures and client balances.
• Enters clients' transactions into computer to record transactions, and issues computer generated receipts.
• Places holds on accounts for uncollected funds.
• Orders daily supply of cash and coin; counts incoming cash and coin.
• Balances currency, coin, and checks in cash drawer at end of shift and compares totaled amounts with data displayed on computer screen.
• Explains, promotes, or sells products or services such as travelers checks, money orders, and cashier's checks.
• Cross sells. Is familiar with all products of the bank. Stays up to date on brochures available to clients.
• Travels frequently to different branches to assist branch staff as needed. 
• May be responsible for balancing of coin teller, ATM and Cash Recycler.
• Completes all internal Bank training as assigned and required.
• Adheres to the Bank’s privacy and data security policies including but not limited to safeguarding of sensitive information and complying with relevant regulations to protect non-public information.
• Exhibits the ability and desire to embrace and enhance the South Shore Bank culture.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience with electronic delivery channels including Internet Banking, Mobile Banking/Mobile Deposit, eStatements, Bill Pay, etc. is preferred. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and interpret documents such procedure manuals, contracts, and reports. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages. 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
