South Plains Surgery Center is Hiring a Registered Nurse Cardiac Cath Lab Near Lubbock, TX

We are looking for a seasoned Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse with solid knowledge of Pre-operative and PACU/ Recovery Nursing. This is a fast-paced environment that is driven to reach the highest quality and satisfaction of each and every patient. South Plains Surgery Center is an Ambulatory Surgery Center located in Lubbock Texas and who currently offers Cardiology, Electrophysiology and Nephrology as its specialties. South Plains Surgery Center offers services to the community with experienced staff as well as established and respected physicians. Our mission is to provide exceptional quality outpatient surgical care. We are growing continually and look forward to bright and energetic nurses joining our current staff along with our team of physicians at SPSC to provide uncompromising outpatient surgical services using modern state of the art technology. Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.

· Experience: Cath lab experience required. ASC, PACU experience preferred.

· Licensure/certification/registration: Current RN licensure in appropriate state required. ACLS certified required. BLS required.

Mental Demands:

Requires immediate judgement and response; occasionally in response to disasters or emergencies, actual events or drills. Requires English language skills adequate for high-level written and interpersonal communication.

Physical Demands:

Requires high level visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities. Ability to move quickly in response to physician and patient needs. To stand or sit for long periods, occasional overhead and low reaching activities related to the clinical setting. Patient care activities may require the ability to exert force up to 100 lbs. rarely, 30 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. constantly.

Occupational Exposure:

Category 1 exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards, may encounter radiation hazards.

  • Observes safety measures in performance of job duties and responsibilities.
  • Responds to emergency situations with competence and composure.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Interactions are respectful and courteous.
  • Objectively evaluates suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care of seeks further guidance as needed
  • Communicates effectively and professionally using translator when necessary.
  • Documents that information received from the patient is disseminated to the appropriate people or areas.
  • Accurately assesses and interprets age-specific patient data and responses to questions and instructions.
  • Maintains and promotes professional competence through continuing education and other learning experiences.
  • Seeks new learning experiences by accepting challenging opportunities and responsibilities.
  • Objectively evaluates suggestions or criticisms and attempts to improve performance or seeks further guidance as needed.
  • Attends and actively participates in meeting, committees, in services, seminars, workshops, conferences, quality management activities to obtain information about current and proposed State and Federal laws, rules and regulations, Accreditation standards and professional standards according to job responsibilities and Center requirements.
  • Provides Cath Lab scope of care
  • Assists in coordinating patient care activities with medical staff and health care team members to provide for continuity of patient care.
  • Occasionally transports patients to and from Cath Lab
  • Work as a team member of clinical staff in identifying and solving clinical care problems pre/intra/post procedure care.
  • Assists with nursing activities during emergencies.
  • Observes and reports breaches in the implementation of nursing practice standards to provide quality patient care to correct level of management
  • Ensures images are in promptly entered in the permanent record for review by the physician.
  • Serves as a patient liaison and responsible for assisting the physician in invasive cardiology procedure as a circulating nurse.
  • Typically the duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: setting up sterile table according to procedure, prepping and draping patient appropriately and using proper sterile techniques during procedures, preparing and proficiently operating all equipment (including radiographic) used in the procedure and all related monitoring and recording equipment, assisting and anticipating the needs of the physician in the performance of procedures, communicating significant data to physicians and other members of the team as each case proceeds, administering all medications when required
  • Completely and accurately documents and charges procedures; enters and records pertinent laboratory values, pressure waveforms and ECGs physical assessments and other pertinent information into logs and the computer and processes related paperwork.
  • Considers cost-containment by using supplies economically.
  • Assists Clinical Director with supply, drug, and equipment inventories to maintain stock level and availability for Cath Lab, OR and PACU.
  • Promotes positive and cooperative interactions among the health care team.
  • Addresses patient needs during admission to the pre-operative area with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting.
  • Assists in assessing the physical and emotional status of the patient upon admission, according to facility policy.
  • Provide patient care based on assessment data, implements and documents preoperative care.
  • Reviews the patients’ medical record and identifies patient needs, communicates these needs with other health care team members.
  • Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient, maintains patient privacy and dignity.
  • Informs patient and family about routine procedures and answers questions accordingly related to the perioperative phase.
  • Performs safe and individualized nursing care for the patient in the pre- operative and postoperative period.
  • Assess and documents the patients physical and emotional status upon arrival in the post-operative area while actively participating in the handoff between the operative team and PACU unit.
  • Documents postoperative care provided based on patient need directly related to the procedure performed and type of anesthesia administered.
  • Assists with comfort in the physical environment of the patient, attention to airway, surgical site and pain management as established procedure.
  • Ensures family and/or caregiver is informed of patient status and with patient as soon as reasonable.
  • Communicates with family in order to bring family or friend at bedside as soon as reasonable.
  • Provides documentation of post-operative instruction per facility policy prior to discharge.
  • Documents patient has met discharge criteria as stated in a discharge order signed by the physician.
  • Responds in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician.
  • Accurately comprehends and interprets verbal orders and direction.
  • Documents appropriate information of patient care accurately and according to facility policy
  • Documents level of pain, medication given and patient response.
  • Informs the patients family of delays or updates on patient status.

Pay: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
