The South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulation is hiring an Accountant II to join their Pierre, SD team.
The Administrative Services is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated individual for its Accountant II position. This position works with the department's finance officer, along with the Cabinet Secretary and division directors, to appropriately spend funds granted from the State and federal governments. This position manages several federal grants related to workforce services and development, reviews and approves noncash and travel vouchers, assists in monitoring subrecipients, and supervises another position on the team. This position will also be involved with transitioning the Department to the new BISON accounting system. As the knowledge expert in assigned federal grants, this position often works with the department's finance officer and staff, along with the Cabinet Secretary, division directors, and managers in local offices.
Occasional in-state travel and possible annual out-of-state travel to attend a conference, as needed.

Licenses and Certifications:
Candidates do NOT need to be a licensed CPA for this position.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, or other related financial field, and 2-4 years of progressive experience in Accounting required. Preferably at least 2 years of experience with South Dakota accounting procedures. Knowledge of federal grant management helpful, but not required.
