South Carolina Youth Advocate Program (SCYAP) is seeking a master's level human services professional facilitate, support and monitor services provided to children, youth and families in their homes or communities by mental health clinicians. The Specialist will work with families starting at referral to identify and assign therapists appropriate for the mental health needs of the clients. They will monitor services, liaison with stakeholders and referrals sources, and monitor and review clinician documentation , providing support, guidance and training every step of the way.

Duties include:

  • Provide support and monitoring of clinical services provided by community based mental health clinicians, including but not limited to: assessment, individual and family therapy, crisis management, and services plan development, through clinical and administrative supervision, as appropriate and in coordination with supervisors.
  • Provide intake services for Mental Health Services, including monitoring referrals for appropriateness, and assist CBS Intake Services and program administrative staff with matching and assignment of contracts, as needed.
  • Ensure accountability of program therapists by monitoring documentation submission and acting as liaison between community-based services and billing/HR departments, negotiating contracts, etc. Review clinical documentation to ensure service delivery is compliant with managed care and private insurance standards, contractual standards, Medicaid standards, accreditation and certification standards, and agency and program specific policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and liaison with community resources, stakeholders, referral sources, families and clinicians to ensure services are provided and appropriate to meet client and stakeholder needs. Provide referrals and follow-up of referrals for client needs to be provided by both SCYAP and/or third-party providers as indicated by client needs.
  • Provide a variety of clinical and treatment services including assessment, individual, group, and family therapy and crisis intervention. Develops client’s treatment plans and review them according to accreditation and/or billing standards.
  • Participate in strategic planning and implementation of program/service expansion and growth initiatives. Actively work to increase program/service referral base by various methods and strategies.
  • Participate, as appropriate, in the quality assurance and improvement activities of the organization, including staff development. Ensure that staff meets professional qualifications and training requirements, as required by licensing, certification, funding and regulatory entities.

Position Requirements

  • Master's degree in Human Services (e.g. social work, psychology, counseling)
  • Professional licensure preferred (or eligible)
  • High energy, motivated individuals with strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and on team
  • Experience working with children and adolescents
  • Positive attitude and dedication to working with at-risk population
  • Excellent clinical judgement with willingness and desire to work collaboratively with treatment team
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of and/or ability to learn contractual standards, Medicaid standards, accreditation standards, and program specific policies and procedures required
  • Must possess strong clinical, organizational, process, and people management skills
  • Must have valid driver’s license and pass appropriate background checks.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
