Job title:Early Childhood Associate DirectorLocation:DistrictJob Group:District AdministratorPay Level:ExemptReports to:Executive Director of Educational Support ServicesSummary: Provide coordination in the implementation of school based and community partner preschool programs for the district, supporting the delivery of early childhood services. Support developmentally appropriate age 3-5 educational programs and a positive class environment, as outlined in our district's stated Ends Policy. Build and strengthen partnerships with community partners that provide these services. Promote seamless transitions, whether it be from Pre-K to Kindergarten, from the school day to after-school program, or extending the school year with summer programs. The Early Childhood Coordinator shall provide leadership and oversight of this work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.Supports school based preschool classrooms and educators in the education of preschool children within our Early Multi Tiered System of Support (EMTSS) by:Supporting school based educatorsSupporting preschool building administrators through regular meetingsDeveloping and implementing professional development for preschool educators, inviting private providersEnsuring building administrators are knowledgeable in the implementation of preschool regulationsRenewing Preschool license for each school based site, working in conjunction with school-based preschool teachers.Renewing the STARS annual reports and 3 year review in collaboration with the school-based preschool teachers.Tracking the administration of Teaching Strategies (TS) Gold and providing reports to necessary recipients.Coordinating and facilitating bi-monthly collaborative meetings with all preschool staff.Processing purchase orders for preschool classroomsWorking with the Executive Director of Educational Support Services to review current legislation, identify trends and needs to provide input on how to fulfill preschool expectations and requirements.2. Responsible for implementing Act 166 and Act 76 preschool requirements by:a.Coordinating Act 166 preschool enrollment for private and school-based programs.b.Acting as the liaison with private partnership programs for contracts, billing, attendance, TS Gold data collection and professional developmentc.Coordinating community outreach.d.Tracking the administration of TS Gold across all programse.Attending all relevant meetings to include: Chittenden County Early Learning Partnership meetings and Act 166 Coordinators meetings.3. Performs other professional responsibilities including:Prepares and maintains accurate, complete, timely, effective and confidential student records and related reports as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. Works effectively, cooperatively, and respectfully with supervisors, colleagues, parents, and outside community partners. Implements strategies such as collaborative teaming, conflict resolution, and mediation strategies to facilitate team decisions. Actively participates in school events, workshops, in-service meetings, building-level staff meetings, district meetings, and other school and district committees/projects. Responsible for on-going professional growth activities as outlined in one’s own professional development plan, consistent with district goals and as directed by the supervisor. Shows professionalism and considers “What’s best for students” in serving and advocating for students, and in decision making. Follows and assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and procedures, policies of the district, and corresponding school procedures. General Responsibilities: Reports to, evaluated by, and receives general administrative direction from the Executive Director of Educational Support Services. Working knowledge of Vermont Special Education Law and/or recent experience working in a Vermont school district preferred.Certifications and Licenses: A valid Vermont Professional Educators License with administrator license or eligible for endorsement and an endorsement in the Birth-Grade 3 or PK-Grade 3 span (Level II preferred), plus meets all the basic competencies and qualifications of the endorsement as listed in the Regulations Governing the Licensing of Educators and the Preparation of Educational Professionals.Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common educational and technical journals, periodicals and procedures, and special education regulations. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents, or members of the community. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to and respond to questions from others.Mathematical / Reasoning Skills: Ability to interpret and use test results by applying math concepts such as standard error of measurement, bands of confidence, standard scores, and percentiles. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Other Skills and Abilities: Good basic computer skills and experience with word processing programs required. Experience with Microsoft Office preferred. Knowledge and experience of a variety of adaptive equipment and software. Ability to effectively, efficiently, and regularly communicate and work cooperatively with a variety of individuals, including students, peers, subordinates, supervisors, parents, and representatives of outside organizations. Ability to effectively resolve conflicts and handle stress.Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are typical of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
