Sound Care Agency, Inc. is Hiring a FT Infant Nanny Needed in Madison Park - Seattle Near Seattle, WA

THE DETAILS

Location: Madison Park/Seattle

Start Date: May or June. They are flexible and are most focused on finding the right long term fit for their family

Child: one adorable 3 month old baby boy!

About the family: Mom and Dad met 8 years ago and fell in love during a backcountry ski trip in the Canadian Rockies. They are both both HUGE outdoor enthusiasts: avid skiers, bikers, climbers, former alpinists and, now, novice surfers. They are also both engineers, passionate musicians and gardeners.

Their philosophy is “work hard and be nice to people.” They value communication, consideration, and compassion.

Mom is very detail-oriented, aims to be organized and prepared, and is a proactive communicator.

Dad has a more laid back and fun-loving style. They believe in parenting affectionately, but also believe in the importance of boundaries. They want their son to grow with a sense of independence, but also to foster his wonder and let him “be a kid” In turn, they also want to foster respect and structure through nurturing understanding and compassionate discipline. They aim to be neither overly passive nor overlay authoritarian in their parenting, and recognize that it takes a lot of patience and investment to achieve.

Little man is a very sweet baby and is accustomed to receiving care from multiple family members and support people. He will let anyone hold him, and he loves music and has lots of giggles.

He also has a huge appetite and his biggest challenge has been some painful digestive issues that are now mostly under control with probiotics / occasional gripe water and gas relief treatments. Parents try to keep him on a regular sleep feeding schedule (e.g. 60m-75m awake windows, 4-5oz bottle feedings every 3-4 hours at his current age). He is exclusively breast milk fed.

That said, he also wants to see and experience everything, so he can sometimes be resistant to napping in his nursery (though this is improving). On those occasions, we tend to wear him in a carrier or take him for a walk outside. He naps easily when held or on the move (including his carseat).

He is currently smiling back, enjoying tummy time, and playing with infant Montessori toys. The family hopes to find a nanny who understands infant/toddler milestones and can continue to foster his development alongside his parents.

Schedule & Hours: The ideal schedule would be a mix of 2-3 daytime and 2-3 afternoon / evening shifts–40 guaranteed hours per week. The family is open to more daytime or more evening support, but are hoping for at least 2 nights of evening coverage/week.

Example:

Monday: 8 hours starting at noon or 1pm

Tuesday: 8 hours starting at noon or 1pm

Wednesday: 8 hours starting at 9am

Thursday: 8 hours starting at 9am

Friday: 8 hours starting sometime between 9am and 1pm (depending on nanny’s preference for long term schedule)

Saturday and Sundays - there will be opportunities for extra hours/date nights if the nanny wants but it is NOT required!

Work from home: Both parents work at home - both have offices and encourage the nanny to get out and about for fun!
Compensation: $35-$40/hr

Benefits: PTO Sick Days Paid Holidays/Observed Holidays, Guaranteed Hours

Travel: Family is looking for a nanny that is willing and able to join them on travel adventures near and far (both domestic and International). This will be a FUN family to travel with - and of course the nanny will have their own accommodations, on and off hours and stipend in addition to the normal guaranteed hours.

The family is also hoping to find a nanny that would be willing to house/dog sit when the family is gone and the nanny is not needed. They have a separate (and SUPER COOL) space for the nanny to live in during these times and partner would be welcome. Not a deal breaker, but something the family would be super grateful for.
Duration: Long-term, one-year commitment. Family sees themselves needing a nanny for at least 2 years and maybe longer if they have another baby
Pets: Dog lover need apply! Family has an adorable herding breed dog. a 40lb Aussie mix named Yuzu. The nanny needs to be comfortable working around dogs and setting boundaries with dogs, but they would absolutely not be expected to care for Yuzu (other than occasionally letting her out or refilling her water),

The family wants you to be aware that when you first meet the dog, she can bark a lot and be guarded, but once she understands a visitor is welcome in our home, then she is extremely loving and attached. With the family’s doulas, the joke was that Yuzu was auditioning to be an assistant doula. And she’s incredible with the baby - giving him a wide and respectful distance.

Driving: Nanny must have a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and a responsible driving record. The nanny will be using her own car for on the job driving but family will definitely consider getting a nanny car down the road.

The right nanny/fit for this family …. Has a loving nature, a sense of humor, is organized, and a great communicator. They want the nanny to feel comfortable in their home, feel that they have a respected voice, and feel like part of the family. Love of travel, activity and adventure a HUGE plus!

In addition to caring for the baby, the parents hope their nanny will support his development by engaging him with his Montessori-style toys, reading him stories, playing with him in the garden, taking him to the nearby Madison Park playground, and taking him on strolls in the Arboretum. They are also a musical family, have a piano and guitar, and sing to him regularly. If their nanny is at all musically inclined, that would be a fun bonus.

Spanish speaker would be a huge bonus (Spanish is Dad’s first language - he is from Peru), but it is in no way a deal breaker.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The family’s aim is to foster an environment of mutual respect and open communication. Their home is large, comfortable, cozy and welcoming. They keep things clean and tidy, but don’t expect things to be perfect / sterile.

They are looking for household support, but they have dedicated housekeepers who handle all the heavy cleaning. At the end of the day, they want to find someone comfortable helping to help the household running and they see this as a team effort.

The household expectations would mostly consist of:

Cleaning up from care-related tasks (feedings, changings, etc.)

Putting away baby clothes and toys

Spot-cleaning non-washable baby items

Cleaning bottles / pump parts in sanitizer

Running folding laundry (as time permits)

Loading / unloading dishwasher

Wiping down surfaces as needed with sanitary wipes

Organizing nursery
