SUMMARY: *
Souder, Miller & Associates is hiring a full time Environmental Field Tech II in Grand Junction office, Colorado. The Tech II is a position which requires up to 1 or 2 years of formal prior training or experience. Assignments typically include a mixture of field and office duties, working on teams and independently. New and varied assignments may be made frequently requiring flexibility in travel, self-directed learning skills and heightened social interaction. Field assignments, depending on technical group assignment, can be frequent to constant and duration can extend beyond one week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities listed here may vary by the nature of the technical position, the amount of field versus office time, assignment of specific projects, and other factors.

  • Learn, acquire, and develop basic technical skills.
  • Apply prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria learned to perform assigned tasks.
  • Learn and perform routine technical work which does not require previous experience.
  • Collect data and gather information or documents.
  • Able to learn, use, and maintain equipment.
  • Follow the proper chain of command and fulfill tasks as instructed by supervisor.
  • Learn and perform standard computations or analysis.
  • Prepare drawings and visual aids, which may include performing drafting and/or figure development using technical software as required.
  • Ability to complete overnight travel unassisted, sometimes extending several consecutive nights to in excess of one week.
  • Learn, acquire, and understand professional and ethical responsibilities toward co-workers, the corporation, regulatory agencies, and clients.
  • Demonstrate increasing levels of efficiency and independence.
  • Recognize and operate within limitations while seeking advice as needed.
  • Adhere to the appropriate document review requirements.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and training sessions as recommended by supervisor.
  • Complies with all applicable safety guidelines and standards.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • High school diploma or GED required. Preferred Bachelor degree in appropriate science (e.g. Geology).
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of related experience.
  • Nuclear Gauge Safety and HAZWOPER 40 hour training required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and able to pass the drug test.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Pay: $20.00 - $29.00 per hour
