Overview

SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team in Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Honolulu, Hawaii. The Mission Partner Environment – Engineering Services (MPE-ES) team based out of Honolulu, Hawaii creates, manages, and supports IT solutions for USINDOPACOM, its mission and its 5,000 customers throughout the Pacific theater. Our team solves challenging technical problems that enable USINDOPACOM to realize critical and time sensitive C2 strategies.

Responsibilities

Serves as a network Subject Matter Expert (SME) for network initiatives within the MPE-ES Area-of-Responsibility (AOR). Provides Tier-3 support to network-related issues. Coordinates and participates in MPE-ES IT architecture/ engineering efforts with Systems Operations, Network Operations, and the Enterprise Service Desk (ESD). 

  • Coordinates internal and external resources relevant to IT network engineering initiatives. Manages projects and assigned tasks, including engagements with internal and external parties (e.g., OEM, Vendors) where applicable.
  • Performs network assessment, analysis, and solution development to include List of Materials (LOM), proposals and related supporting documents (e.g., solution diagrams, implementation timelines, etc.)
  • Acts as a point of incident escalation and coverage. Manages proper communication, correction, and response.
  • Evaluates new services, technologies, software, tools, and devices that may improve MPE-ES abilities to proactively monitor performance and remediate concerns.
  • Assess current work processes and propose recommendations that would improve MPE-ES work efficiencies.
  • Assists with and validates SOPs and TTPs associated with current knowledge of relevant technologies. Regularly collects and summarizes pertinent MPE-ES network-related accomplishments, issues, and concerns.
  • Contributes and provides feedback to IT-relevant special projects especially those involving networking and data transport.
  • Ensures compliance of custody and ownership of Government equipment and related components.

Qualifications

  • An Active in-scope SECRET clearance.
  • Team-player. Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • DoD 8570 IAT level II compliant (Security CE, CCNA-Security, CND, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP) or higher
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in IT solutions assessment, implementation, administration, troubleshooting and support.
  • 8 years of experience in enterprise IT service center operations and network engineering involving complex classified Department of Defense (DoD) environments and mandatory security controls (e.g., STIGs).
  • Advanced knowledge of LAN/WAN (switching and routing protocols, installation, and configuration) with prior experience using Cisco and Brocade network solutions. Prior experience in implementing and supporting secure network environments (firewalls, encryption/SSL, network separation, VLANs, tunnels, TACLANES etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in OSI model. Previous circuit and fiber experience (i.e., “layer-1”) installation and troubleshooting.
  • Experienced with implementing/supporting network-related IP services including DNS, DHCP and Unified Communications (UC) (e.g., VoIP, Call Manager, VTC).
  • Experienced in implementing and supporting VDI/Virtual Environments and solutions (e.g., Citrix, VMware, Azure Cloud/Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV). Familiarity with HCI, authentication protocols and C2 applications.
  • Able to support 24/7 operations (including support to exercises), when necessary.
  • Able to follow instructions and work both independently and in a (distributed) team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • DoD 8570 IAT-III compliant (e.g., CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCIH)
  • Relevant IT Certification (e.g., Cisco, Citrix, Dell, HP, ITIL, Microsoft, Nutanix, Palo Alto, VMware)
  • Well-versed in Department of Defense (DoD) protocols, procedures, and regulations.
  • Familiar with operating in classified environments.
  • Prior CSfC experience and/or knowledge in securing and encrypting network communications.
  • Prior Help Desk/software experience (e.g., Jira, Remedy, ServiceNow).
  • Awareness or experience in ITIL framework and ITIL best practices.
  • Fluency in a foreign language is desirable, but not required

  • May require periods of non-traditional working hours including consecutive nights or weekends (if applicable)
