Assistant Plant Maintenance Manager

Sunrise Farms located in Harris, Iowa

This position is essential in the operations of our plant. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and working with the Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, Safety Manager, and maintenance staff to ensure equipment is operating efficiently and reliably.

Essential Job Duties:

• Perform maintenance management by supervising maintenance staff and establishing priorities in maintenance schedules.
• Maintains manufacturing assets and facility, parts inventory, monitoring purchase orders, invoice approvals, and manages the department budget.
• Maintenance planning and coordination of daily maintenance.
• Manages maintenance staff by setting direction and priorities.
• Provides training and continuous development to staff.
• Drive preventative and predictive maintenance, not reactive.
• Coordinate projects with contractors as needed.
• Mange, maintain, and establish maintenance procedures for production lines to ensure production meets or exceeds budget.
• Oversee the inspection, repairs, installation, modifications, and overall maintenance of the plant.
• Work closely with Plant Manager, QC Manager, Safety Manager to ensure compliance with regulatory inspections including, but not limited to USDA, OSHA, customer and third part audits.
• Maintain and enforce compliance of SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures).
• Develop and maintain quality and safety standards.
• Develop staff skills by conducting training, one-on-one development sessions, and working with outside technical training.
• Participate in the design and development of future production expansions.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule.

Qualifications:

Prefer 5 years of operations management experience in maintenance. Knowledge of basic computer skills, reading schematics, and electrical is required. Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is highly preferred. Advanced knowledge of mechanical/electrical fields such as PLCs, instrumentation, etc is preferred. Lean Manufacturing principles are also preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, kneel, stoop, and walk to areas where equipment is located.
