Job Summary
Reporting to and under direction of the Culinary Operations Manager, with additional lead work direction provided by other management of the University Culinary Services team, the Cafe Associate (Food Service Worker II) is responsible more complicated and responsible tasks and work with a greater degree of independence for maintaining the standards of operations and the ordering of products per specifications established by members of the Culinary Services Management team. The incumbent is also responsible for facilitating inventories of the assigned units, maintaining time and temperature logs, keeping records and making reports relevant to the operations.
Key Qualifications
This position requires the equivalent to one year of experience performing the duties of a Food Service Worker I or equivalent to two years of experience in the distribution and service of foods in large quantity that includes the cleaning and maintaining of equipment and work areas. A food service background is preferred. Beginning proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite and EATAC or similar automated food management system preferred. The incumbent must successfully complete a pre-placement physical exam and must possess and thereafter maintain a food safety manager certification, which has been accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or be able to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Salary and Benefits
Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $3,338 to $3,438 a month. This is a full time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.
This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
