Job Purpose/Summary:

The Development Sciences group is in charge of nonclinical safety, pharmacokinetics, and immunogenicity assessments. We are seeking an independent and self-motivated Scientist to play a key role in the development of our cellular therapy pipeline projects. The candidate will aid in the lab-based preclinical assessments for IND and development-enabling studies and prepare and present findings to relevant teams. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in immunology and experience in cell culture and molecular biology lab techniques. Successful candidates will demonstrate creativity, critical thinking, and the ability to carry out independent and cross-functional teamwork, help develop new SOPs, and generate reproducible, high-quality data to inform development of Sonoma Biotherapeutics’ CAR T cell therapy platforms.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Conduct studies to assess the safety, pharmacokinetic, and immunogenicity potential of novel engineered regulatory T cell therapies.
  • Culture and analysis of cell lines and primary cells (immune and non-immune) using various methods including but not limited to flow cytometry, molecular biology, and plate-based assays
  • Work independently and in collaboration with other team members to design, carry out and analyze experiments
  • Maintain accurate documentation of experiments in electronic lab notebook (ELN)
  • Communicate data with team members and to others in organization
  • Contribution to project teams as subject-matter expert or team representative

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • PhD in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology or related field with demonstrated immunological expertise required. Additional postdoctoral or industry experience preferred.
  • 0-5 years’ experience post-PhD
  • Experience with multi-color flow cytometry setup and data analysis using FlowJo or other software
  • Experience in other common immunological techniques (e.g. cytokine measurement by MSD/Luminex)
  • Experience with cell culture of mammalian cells. Additional experience with primary human immune and non-immune cells preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in independent assay design and development
  • Experience analyzing data using various software: Excel, GraphPad Prism, etc.
  • Familiarity with literature-based research and ability to put data and information into context with respect to current scientific understanding
  • Strong scientific understanding and critical thinking are required
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to present data and write reports
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with numerous assay types, particularly immune-based assays
  • Additional familiarity with molecular biology techniques and assays preferred
  • Prior experience working with human samples, particularly primary T cell culture
  • Experience with Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) systems and documentation
  • Industry experience
