Sonny's Enterprises LLC is Hiring a Director of Corporate Quality Near Tamarac, FL

Overview:
The Director of Corporate Quality leads the development of organizational quality policies and standards including Quality Management System (QMS) development and maintenance. (S)He will identify and standardize inspection devices and methods and other manufacturing-relevant quality metrics for use within the manufacturing facilities. The Director of Corporate Quality will oversee the quality control aspects of engineering design and existing product support, sustaining engineering and VA/VE processes to ensure quality is engineered into products of process design. (S)He is accountable for supplier qualification, development, corrective action, and audits to ensure quality throughout the supply chain.
Responsibilities:
  • Upholds and reinforces Sonny’s safety standards and policies throughout the organization.
  • Develop, maintain, and train the Sonny’s Enterprises corporate quality policy.
  • Expand and adapt ISO 9001 compliant quality standards to all manufacturing locations and administrative processes.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve the corporate QMS in alignment with ISO standards
  • Plan and conduct regular internal audits of processes and generate actionable deviation reports for ongoing improvement and sustained compliance.
  • Identify, document, and formalize key standards that apply across all product design, manufacturing, installation, and service processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing quality, production operations, and other key leaders throughout the organization in the creation and standardization of these quality processes.
  • Develop and implement standards related to testing and evaluation processes at each phase of product development, manufacture, installation, and service.
  • Facilitate communication among production divisions and management.
  • Leverage existing quality documents and processes along with industry benchmarks to develop effective, relevant, and reliable quality processes.
  • Reports status of quality improvement initiatives to senior and executive leadership.
  • Spearheads quality reporting based on collected data to inform improvement initiatives across departments.
  • Ensures designed-in quality through the oversight and review of product testing, including test stand evaluation, proof-of-concept, alpha (α), beta (β), and gamma (γ) testing, using both quantitative and voice-of-customer (VoC) data to drive objective characterization of product quality.
  • Engages in development of DFMEA for all new products.
  • Maintains a lessons-learned knowledge base that can be used to mitigate potential future field issues.
  • Collaborates with industrial engineering and test lab teams to develop robust test methods and criteria for manufacturing testing prior to shipment.
  • Ensures robust feedback loop from customer/field to engineering to prioritize safety and quality concerns within the sustaining engineering teams.
  • Develops and oversees product quality plans, including testing and inspection procedures, and ensures that these are met and validated prior to manufacturing deployment.
  • Guides gauge R&R and tooling validation standards and compliance thereto throughout all manufacturing facilities and engineering development processes.
  • Integrate quality requirements and quality-related lessons learned back into the product development process.
  • Creates, maintains, and manages a unified VoC portal for the rapid communication of complaints and failures to ensure consistent and timely response and resolution.
  • Leads identification and manages root cause analysis and manages the implementation of short- and long-term countermeasures for the immediate mitigation and ultimate resolution of quality defects and failures.
  • Interfaces regularly with technical support and the Operational Excellence to ensure all feedback that comes in through other channels is documented and countermeasures implemented.
  • Develop systems to track and analyze performance data including warranty claims, returns, field failures, etc.
  • Ensure timely resolution of field quality issues and improve the mean response time to world class levels.
  • Collaborate with the Operational Excellence organization to create robust corrective actions that address root cause at several levels of the organization, including technical writing, site design, other technical documentation, engineering design, manufacturing processes, and service and installation processes.
  • Manages the qualification and regular audits of suppliers within the Sonny’s Enterprises supply chain.
  • Leads the Supplier Quality Engineering team in providing developmental feedback and oversight to help Sonny’s partner with suppliers for long term success.
  • Through collaboration with the corporate supply chain team, identifies the top supplier in each commodity supply category and manages new parts and designs to those suppliers who are most capable.
  • Ensures, through the supplier audits and diversification strategies, that critical parts have contingency supply plans in place that are maintained and updated regularly.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve supplier quality portals for rapid communication of corrective action requests and collaboration in their resolution.
  • The Director of Corporate Quality will design processes such that the System, Pathway, Connection, and Activity level considerations of those processes are clearly defined, with embedded tests and visual indicators, where appropriate, that allow any deviations from the prespecification to be rapidly identified and countermeasures.
  • In addition to the initiatives around process design, standardization, and quality control policies being developed, the Director of Corporate Quality will leverage the principles and cultural commitments of Sonny’s Enterprise Excellence to build team member buy-in, develop our team members, and engage in daily continuous improvement activities to support our team members.
  • Lead, coach, train, and mentor team members across the organization in advanced problem solving skills and the use of data and statistics in developing proposed countermeasures and solutions
Qualifications:
  • BS Engineering Degree [Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial]
  • LEAN Six-Sigma training / certification preferred
  • ASQ certified quality engineer preferred
  • ISO internal auditor certification preferred
  • Weld inspection certification preferred
  • 10 years of quality or operations leadership experience
  • Prior quality system design in an ISO9001 Environment preferred
  • Detailed understanding of data analysis and statistics is required
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or field-facing quality role is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working with ERP systems and supporting software [experience with SAP S/4, SAP QMS, and Salesforce preferred]
