Description: An Adult Care Specialist (ACS) is responsible for the day-to-day execution of a behavioral health plan created by the client and behavior analyst in a clinical setting. This can include things like coaching clients through social situations, managing challenging behaviors, increasing skills in self-advocacy and independent living skills, and collecting data. Staff will be assigned to a primary location, but may be required to travel to other locations up to 25% of the time. Mileage will be paid for those who travel between locations.
Responsibilities:
Communicate with the Supervisor on therapeutic strategies and implement changes as directed
Perform all necessary documentation and data collection on client goals each session
Ensure all appointments have required documentation & are converted promptly for billing to insurance
Arrange coverage for clients when absent to ensure consistency of therapy services
Communicate with supervisors regarding client progres
Report any violations according to company policies, or state and/or federal regulations
Assist clients with daily activities including: job coaching, recreational activities, and outings.
Engage clients in fun and functional activities designed to target therapeutic goals
Understand and implement all client protocols including behavior plans/crisis plans as determined by the Supervisor
Maintain organization of all items utilized for therapy
Maintain cleanliness and organization of all therapy areas
Ensure the health and safety of the client at all times
Abide by all company policies & procedures, demonstrate company values in all areas of employment
Other duties as assigned
Other important duties for ACS may include:
Administering medications
Taking clients on regular community outings
Implementing behavior contracts
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
Frequent walking and standing, occasional running, occasional sitting
Occasional crawling, crouching, stooping, kneeling and climbing to interact with and assist clients
Frequent climbing of stairs and ramps to navigate the facility
Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to assist clients
Frequent need to bend to retrieve, lift, and carry. Lifting typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
Constant need to walk and assist with transporting clients
Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms
Frequent need to complete tasks in noisy environments
Constant need to adapt well in the face of workplace stressors such as a new or different workspace and schedule, and having to learn new or different tasks
Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions, occasional exposure to hot or cold weather
The population cared for will contain patients that are agitated, uncooperative, impulsive, disruptive, and verbally/physically aggressive
Additional Requirements:
Must have valid Driver’s License
Must be 18 years of age or older
Must be able to pass a background check
Must have H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
