Qualifications
- MA Certification as a school psychologist.
- The position may require travel to out of district placements.
- Applicants who are fluent in other languages preferred.
- Selects and administers age appropriate assessment methods and material in order to determine the needs of the student, including academic and psychological testing.
- Consults with teachers and other personnel to obtain information regarding the reason for referral.
- Conducts observations of students in their current academic environment; this may include going off site to EI, preschools, nursery schools, or play groups.
- Interprets assessment results and compiles comprehensive assessment reports that address the reason for referral and include appropriate recommendations.
- Serve as a team member of a student's special education team, and uses assessment data about the student and his/her environment to make valid recommendations to appropriate interventions and placements.
- Contributes to the development of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) when the student is found eligible for special education services.
- Maintains an awareness of new developments and research in the field of assessments and school psychology and provides in-service training and workshops for parents, teachers and staff regarding mental health issues and how disabilities affect student performance and progress.
- Provides follow-up support and re-evaluation services as necessary.
- Consults with and supports teachers working with students identified with or suspected of having disabilities.
- Serves as outreach contact to area preschools and parent groups as needed.
- Assists with other assignments that Special Education administration may request.
- Maintains adequate and current testing materials required by academic evaluators and school psychologists.
- Maintains a log of students tested and team meetings attended.
- Maintains all testing and evaluation timelines per state and federal regulation.

The district reached 100% of the state's performance report targets in academic achievement and graduation/post-secondary enrollment since the inception of the Digital Data Wall program. The district uses 3DPD, an online "best practice" video repository, ...where staff can share ideas and highlight exemplary work. At-risk students are identified for student mentorship through the district wide Mosaic program which pairs at-risk students with local mentors in the community. I&RS teams use the shared Digital Data Walls to identify specific areas in need of support. Using a customized, student centered approach, classroom teachers are provided with specific intervention and classroom strategies that are based on an individual student needs profile. Students enrolled in the RVCC Academy receive an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts and a High School Diploma upon completion of their high school experience. The district has also partnered with RVCC to implement the Workforce Skill Development and Employability Program. This program provides opportunities for non-college bound students with four career tracks including retail, hospitality, public service (law enforcement), and childcare (certification in CPR, ServeSafe Food Handlers, and ServeSafe Essentials). The district also partners with LaRue PR which specializes in promoting faction-related brands. The LaRue PR Academy provides invaluable internship opportunities for a group of seniors during the after school hours. As a culminating activity, the student interns will be able to participate in the New York Fashion Week alongside the LaRue PR employees.
