Somerset Preparatory Academy is Hiring a Remote Middle/High School Art and Photography Teacher

Job Description:

The art teacher position is for the 2024-2025 school year. An Art Teacher plays a crucial role in our school. As an art teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons that develop talented individuals. You will create a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters critical thinking and creativity. the art teacher will play a critical role in the development of our art program.

Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Development: Design and develop a curriculum that motivates our talented students to develop their skills further. Select appropriate instructional materials and resources for various grade levels.

2. Lesson Planning: Prepare and deliver engaging and interactive lessons that promote student participation and understanding. Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies and technologies to accommodate different learning styles.

3. Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages respect, collaboration, and active student engagement. Set clear behavioral expectations and enforce discipline when necessary.

4. Student Assessment: Regularly Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate their progress to parents/guardians.

5. Differentiated Instruction: Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students. Modify lessons and assignments for students with learning disabilities, English language learners, or gifted students.

6. Development: Promote a love for art skills And history

7. Technology Integration: Incorporate technology tools and resources into instruction to enhance learning and digital skills. Use educational software, online platforms, and multimedia resources to support student learning and engagement.

8. Collaboration and Professional Development: Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administrators to develop interdisciplinary units, align instructional practices, and participate in professional learning communities. Stay updated on current art trends

9. Parent Communication: Maintain open and proactive communication with parents/guardians regarding students' academic progress, behavior, and any concerns. Conduct parent-teacher conferences and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.

Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree

- State teaching certification or licensure in art education

- Knowledge of curriculum standards and educational frameworks relevant to art

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.

- Experience in lesson planning, curriculum development, and classroom management.

- Familiarity with educational technology tools and resources.

- Ability to differentiate instruction based on students' needs and abilities.

- Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching and inspiring students.

- Organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines and manage multiple responsibilities.
