Somerset Berkley and Somerset Public Schools is Hiring a Content Coordinator - English Language Arts 9-12 Near Somerset, MA

JOB GOAL: To provide for a coordinated and articulated curriculum across all grade levels so that transitions between grade spans (8-9) are seamless; to supervise teachers, students and staff in an assigned content area; to develop opportunities for curriculum development, instructional support and staff training within the content area at both the elementary and secondary levelsPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Develops teaching strategies to implement new curricula and performs demonstration lessons within classroom situations for observation by teachers at the secondary level.2.Coordinates content area curricular revision, rewriting and course development.3.Supervises classroom instruction, evaluates teaching performance for an assigned content area, including writing and constructing performance criteria.4.Plans, organizes and presides at teacher meetings for an assigned content area and attends regularly scheduled administrative meetings as directed.5.Takes leadership as a representative to curriculum projects and to the districts Curriculum Council and promotes the content relevance and effectiveness in terms of established content/curriculum objectives.6.As directed by the Superintendent, works closely with the Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Accountability on all areas of curriculum, assessment and instruction and participates with said Director on all relevant grant applications and processes.7.Monitors teacher absences and supervises substitute teachers in an assigned content area where appropriate.8.Communicates to teachers and staff within content areas major trends and developments affecting them and plans, improves and oversees testing and remedial programs for assigned content areas, including, but not limited to MCAS testing.9.Plans, promotes, conducts pre-service and in-service education training in an assigned content area.10.Supervises, coordinates and prepares all necessary inventories, content area budget planning and requests with required documentation.11.Works with individuals and communities on issues of content.12.Participates with the building principals in the scheduling of classes and the assignment of teachers.13.Participates in a teaching assignment consistent with the duties and responsibilities of a Coordinator in theSomerset Teachers Association Unit B14.Assists and supervises with student discipline as related to academic issues within an assigned content area.15.Coordinates the work of assigned student teachers within assigned content areas.16.Coordinates, recommends and supervises the integration of technology into the assigned content area and maintains an open line of communication with the districts Coordinator of Technology.17.Performs such other duties as directed by the Superintendent and the Director of Curriculum, Assessment and Accountability.
