Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for social studies classes
- Teach students about historical events, cultures, and societies
- Foster critical thinking and analytical skills through class discussions and activities
- Use learning technology to enhance instruction and engage students
- Assess student progress and provide feedback on assignments and exams
- Manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment
- Collaborate with other teachers to develop interdisciplinary projects
- Provide academic advising and support to students
- Participate in curriculum development and revision
- Stay updated on current events and trends in social studies education
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's degree preferred)
- Valid teaching certification in Social Studies
- Strong knowledge of social studies content, including history, geography, economics, and government
- Experience in behavior management techniques for diverse student populations
- Familiarity with learning technology tools and resources for social studies instruction
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective classroom management
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual students
- Proficiency in research, writing, proofreading, and style conventions for social studies curriculum materials
- Knowledge of literacy education strategies to support reading comprehension in social studies
