We’re looking for a very creative writer to join our growing writer’s room. The Senior Copywriter position at Someoddpilot is a hyper-collaborative, hyper-generative job that requires a refined sensitivity to humor, character, and story – and a firm grasp on brand. 

The focus of this role will be on super-sharp advertising spots, big creative concepts for brand and product campaigns, and foundational brand language (taglines, platforms, anthems). Our client roster currently includes consumer brands in the apparel, outdoor / sports, spirits / cpg, pet and tech space, so familiarity with any of these verticals would be ideal. We need creative thinking for integrated extensions in PR, experiential activations, influencer strategy, and other channels. You’ll also have evergreen copy responsibilities for social assets, strategic upfronts, brandbook interiors and the like. You will be working across multiple accounts and on pitches with compressed timelines. 

You should be a strategic and visual thinker who’s excited about working closely with other writers, strategists, art directors, and video editors. You need to be stoked to present to and brainstorm with clients. Most importantly, you can’t operate from a place of fear or self-consciousness. Your ego must be resilient and rightsized. You see big creative challenges as joyful opportunities to experiment / fail / learn / knock it out of the park as a group. The studio is awarded work based on its particular POV, so it’s important that you view constructive feedback from leadership as gasoline to fuel your creative fire, not a bucket of cold water. Over time, your ideas will meaningfully change the shape of our creative offering. 

At Someoddpilot, creative work is a team sport, and practice is held in-person. In the studio’s 25 years of existence we have found that this is the best way to clear a high bar of excellence, and makes the work wayyy more fun. You'll be on-site at our studio in Wicker Park Tuesday-Friday; Monday is currently remote and mostly set aside for planning / ops. We also have floating remote work days. 

Experience: 4-8 years in a creative writing role, ideally (but not exclusively) at an agency. 

We would like to see portfolios containing spots, campaign work, social, or brand development. 

Salary range: $75k-$100k

Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors including experience, qualifications, and level of responsibility.
