Job Overview and Responsibilities ***Position Summary***
The Pilot Plant Operator provides chemical process operation and maintenance support to Pilot Plant operations. This position operates and maintains the work processes necessary to achieve the units safety, quality, reliability, cost, and production goals.
***Position Accountabilities***
Provides mechanical, fabrication, and preventative maintenance support for pilot plant operations.
Under direction of supervisory personnel, operates equipment used in the pilot plant
Maintains a safe work environment for self and others.
Participates in peer and area coordinator safety audits and attends all required safety meetings & training.
Assists product/process development groups in scale-up of lab synthesis to pilot plant trial, and then on to commercialization.
Assists with manufacturing facility support through pilot plant trials.
Maintains Certified Operator status and adheres to pilot plant SOPs and work processes.
Communicates specifications and obtains price quotes for new parts and equipment from external resources.
Provides operational guidance and assistance to internal and external stakeholders as needed.
Performs other tasks and duties as required.
Overtime (over 40 hrs. /work week) and/or alternate shift work may be required.
Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Education and Experience **Minimum Education**
High School Diploma, or equivalent
**Preferred Education**
Associates Degree or Technical Certificate/Diploma in related field. Bachelors in ChE or ME is a plus.
**Minimum Experience**
5 years related experience in operation & maintenance of industrial/mechanical equipment, or
2 years experience with post-secondary Degree/Certificate
Fabrication experience including design, welding and tube-bending skills is preferred.
**Minimum Field-of-Expertise**
Knowledge of chemical operations and maintenance of mechanical equipment (i.e. pumps, piping equipment, reactors, etc.)
Functional knowledge of computer software and computerized process control systems.
Ability to read and interpret process drawings.
