Job Overview and Responsibilities **Job Overview and Responsibilities**

* Leads Color R&D Team, including regular contact with customers, sales, marketing, technical and applications development, on-site R&D and production teams. Responsible for projects prioritization and staffing.

* Prioritizes new color development requests, considering Solvays ambitions to grow the business, customers strategic positioning, and feasibility to achieve objectives

* Responsible for all developmental color production, including R&D and scale-up samples produced in Alpharetta for internal and customer testing, and collaboration with other R&D teams to successfully plan for, produce, and ship all samples

* Direct collaboration with customers, including appropriate information sharing related to samples, developments, and customer complaints while protecting Solvay confidential interests

* Develops team to ensure scientific approaches to color development, and promotes the use of digital tools to accelerate developments

* Ensures the efficient movement of samples to the customer using tools such as SAP

* Significant daily communication with key customers

* Direct supervision of color scientists and researchers, including project assignments, mentoring, performance assessment, and career interests/direction

* Ensures raw materials are available for R&D and production in a cost-efficient manner

* Guides team and resources to develop new colors, assess new pigments/dyes, and implement new color capabilities in support of team objectives

* Inspires team to work safely and follow all HSE requirements

**Full Color Teams Responsibilities**

* Clearly understand and apply knowledge of color science and the interactions of colorants/pigments with base resin materials and other raw materials for color products

* Identify material needs & coordinate w/manufacturing to produce made-to-order materials

* Scheduling with compounding, molding, and testing groups

* Support compounding industrial group in technology transfer to commercial manufacturing plants for new color compounds

* Create new formulations in company database systems

* Trouble-shooting for manufacturing for color products

* Work with supply chain and customer service to schedule production

* Work with manufacturing sites to ensure correct feedstock materials are used

* Provide technical support to the business for color related issues

* Provide color training to Sales & Marketing and customers as appropriate

Education and Experience

* Minimum B.S. in Chemistry, Engineering, Color, Polymer Science or related field

* A minimum of 5 years of Color R&D experience

* Prior supervisory and or Lead experience

* Preferred qualification: field experience in color development

* Preferred qualification: experience with high performance polymers

Skills

* Motivated, self-starter

* English language

* Strong teamwork

* Strong communications skills (in-person, webmeeting, emails, calls)

* Ability to calmly progress team objectives in a high pressure customer environment

* Preferred qualification: color acuity ability

* Creates and follows detailed schedules for projects

* Ability to prepare technical reports to document research conducted
