Job Title: Manager, Health Information Management Education - Remote

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day

Reporting Structure: The position will directly manage a team of six employees.

About the Position:

The Manager, Health Information Management Education, will be responsible for supporting and advancing the skills of our coding professionals. They will exhibit strong technical knowledge and innovative thinking. The immediate priority will be the oversight of our annual work plan, PEPPER reviews, especially focused audits, and providing cross-training support to position associates in different coding roles.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervise a team of six coding professionals, providing guidance, support, and fostering a culture of continual learning and development.

2. Oversee and manage the annual work plan, ensuring tasks and projects align with overall business objectives.

3. Conduct PEPPER reviews and focused audits, identifying areas of improvement and implementing corrective measures as needed.

4. Provide cross-training support to facilitate career growth and versatility within the team, transitioning coders to different roles such as outpatient coder trained to inpatient, ER coder trained to SDC code, etc.

5. Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for the 3M/360 encoder CAC application, responsible for monitoring its usage within Coding operations, maintaining query template updates, and conducting user pre-testing and post-update testing when new versions are launched.

6. Ensure fluency and efficiency in system applications including Epic, Meditech, 3M/360 CAC, OneContent, and all MS Office applications.

7. Implement and train on technical workflows and best practices within the team.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Proven experience and expertise in health information management and coding.

2. Proficient with system applications, such as Epic, Meditech, 3M/360 CAC, OneContent, and all MS Office applications.

3. Extensive knowledge of workflows and best practices in health information management.

4. Previous managerial experience, preferably in a remote environment.

5. Demonstrated technical acumen and an innovative approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

6. Previous experience as a subject matter expert (SME) for the 3M/360 encoder CAC application is preferred.

7. Demonstrated ability to conduct focused audits, oversee work plans, and execute PEPPER reviews.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) is preferred.

2. Advanced degree in Health Information Management or related field.
