Summary/Objective:

The Behavior Interventionist 2 is responsible for providing intensive behavioral intervention services to clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental delays in language, cognitive, adaptive behavior, social-emotional, self-care, fine motor, gross motor and communication development. The Behavior Interventionist is ultimately responsible for direct delivery of the behavioral services to the children and families, as well as accurate record keeping of case notes and excellent communication with supervising BCBA and other Behavior Interventionists responsible for oversight about the program and the progress of the behavior service plans. The Behavior Interventionist 2 maintains a weekly billable caseload of service hours as directed by the IBI Supervisor. This position is expected to complete credentials as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within 6 months of employment.

Required Education and Experience:

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s program.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of DTT, PECS, and other ABA strategies.

• Possess an associate’s degree in a behavioral or child development science or related field along with 2000 hours of supervised clinical experience delivering treatment to people with ASD or a related condition: or
• Have at least 4,000 hours of supervised clinical experience in delivering treatment to people with ASD or a related condition. You may include hours worked as a mental health behavioral aide or Level III treatment provider in the required hours of experience: or

Essential Functions:

Primary Responsibilities

• Along with the BCBA, developing and implementing a culturally appropriate treatment plan for each child.
• Independently conducting one on one sessions of conduct interventions outlined in the treatment plan using principles of applied behavior analysis.
• Address treatment plan objectives using procedures approved by the BCBA.
• Collect and record data accurately and efficiently in accordance with agency policy, DHS requirements and standards of the profession.
• Demonstrate basic competency with skill requirements following a two-week intensive training and observation period.
• Work with and receive regular direction from the designated BCBA / QSP for the purpose of helping the child achieve maximal progress, as well as identify and problem solve any barriers to progress on the treatment plan.
• Within 45 days of employment the Behavior Interventionist is expected to support a caseload within expected guidelines for billable service.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain current schedule with supervisor, communicating adjustments as they occur.
• Complete chart notes daily for services provided and contacts made, ensuring that the documented time frame in the note accurately represents the service provided and that the note clearly describes the intervention provided.
• Ensure that the file is in compliance with applicable standards and agency policy, including but not limited to: current Diagnostic Assessment, Individual Treatment Plan, financial agreements, releases of information, HIPAA / Notice of Privacy Practices, and evidence of ongoing case consultation.
• Complete staff time and expense sheets bi-weekly for payroll processing.
• Participate in supervision activities as directed.
• Participate in required training as needed to meet program requirements.
• Adhere to HIPAA privacy guidelines, data security expectations, and mandated reporting requirements, notifying management immediately of any breaches or concerns.
• Follow agency policy and procedure.
• Contribute to the development of agency policies and procedures as requested.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This position works actively with children in an office, home, or community-based setting, sometimes for a period of several hours at a time. This requires energy, enthusiasm, and physical capabilities to engage the child in tasks and play activities. For example. the Behavior Interventionist may need to participate in physical recreational activities with the child. This position may need to conduct physical intervention procedures with the child, such as escort or restraint procedures in the event safety concerns arise. The Behavior Interventionist will need to use a computer for reading client files and recording progress notes.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours will fluctuate based on workload and client schedule. Occasional weekend work will be mandatory based on client needs.

Travel:

This position requires some local travel each day, between the office, school, home, and community training locations.
