Solid Power is Hiring a Scientist I/II Near Louisville, CO

Position Overview:

Solid Power is seeking a Scientist I or II to join our talented team of engineers and scientists working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next‐generation, all solid‐state rechargeable batteries. Solid Power is a dynamic, fast‐paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment. The preferred candidate will have hands-on laboratory experience in an academic, government, or industrial setting. The Scientist will work closely with the R&D team to develop a high-energy, solid-state battery with a lithium metal anode.

Job Duties:

  • Assemble and test battery cells under the guidance of scientists and engineers.
  • Contribute to the development of new materials, cell components, and manufacturing processes.
  • Characterize materials and processes in our state-of-the-art analytical facility.
  • Analyze and interpret data. Communicate results to the larger team.
  • Learn and apply principles of electrochemistry and materials science to meet challenges and solve problems.
  • Follow all safety protocols. Safely operate lab equipment including mixers, battery testers, and glove boxes.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records of experiments.
  • Clean and organize common equipment and lab areas.
  • Document and follow standard operating procedures. Assist in drafting or editing procedures during process development.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  • Previous hands-on research experience in an academic, government, or industrial laboratory.
  • A positive attitude and enthusiasm for science and technology.
  • Curiosity and motivation to learn new instrumentation and methods and engage with scientific literature.
  • Initiative to adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced research environment.
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to quickly demonstrate independence. Must be hands-on.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and balance multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, material science, physics, or a related discipline.
  • The Scientist I position does not require previous professional experience. The Scientist II position typically requires two or more years of previous professional experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
  • Fine motor skills.
  • Ability to wear PPE including occasional respirator protection.

Salary Range: $61,000 - $100,000 annually

Benefits: Solid Power offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical/dental/vision insurance, employer paid Life/AD&D/STD/LTD insurance, 401k with company match, paid holidays, PTO, up to six (6) weeks paid FMLA leave, cell phone reimbursement and eligibility to participate in our bonus and equity plans.
