Solid Power is Hiring a Scientist I (Electrolyte Technologies) Near Louisville, CO

Position Overview:Solid Power is seeking a Scientist to join our talented team working to revolutionize the battery industry through the development of next-generation, all solid-state rechargeable batteries. The Scientist will be tasked with assisting R&D personnel on a multitude of projects related to the synthesis and characterization of new solid-state electrolyte materials including the development of lab-scale production processes and assisting in the transition of processes to pilot scale production.
Job Duties:
  • Contribute to the development of new synthetic processes to create high purity precursors to support solid electrolyte development.
  • Contribute to the continued development of lab and pilot scale synthesis processes through executing targeted experiments aimed at understanding process limits and tolerances.
  • Perform basic materials characterization including x-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, FTIR spectroscopy, impedance spectroscopy, and others.
  • Safe operation of various lab equipment including rotary evaporators, furnaces, and glove boxes.
  • Conform to all safety precautions and protocols.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of all conducted experimentation.
  • Clean and organize common equipment and lab areas.
  • Document and follow standard operating procedures as well as assist in drafting or editing procedures during process development.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry, material science, or a related discipline and 2 years’ experience in the chemical industry desirable.
  • Knowledge of synthetic chemistry. Experience with analytical and characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction, FTIR, TGA, and/or EIS is a plus.
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to quickly demonstrate independence.
  • Hands-on experience working with material synthesis and process development; experience with glovebox use, air-sensitive materials, and/or wet chemical synthesis is preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving research and development needs.
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented mindset with an eye toward practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
Salary Range: $68,000 - $76,000/annually
Benefits: Solid Power offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical/dental/vision insurance, employer paid Life/AD&D/STD/LTD insurance, 401k with company match, paid holidays, Unlimited PTO, up to six (6) weeks paid FMLA leave, cell phone reimbursement and eligibility in our equity plan.
