Solid Ground Engineering, LLC is Hiring a CAD Technician II Near Redmond, WA

About us

Solid Ground Engineering, PLLC (SGE) provides expert civil engineering services for land development projects. Our team of experts offers site feasibility, project layouts, site plans, utility design, stormwater design, hydrogeologic evaluation, permitting and schedule consultation along with many other civil engineering services for residential, industrial, and commercial projects in the greater Puget Sound area. Professional experience includes working within jurisdictions in Snohomish, King and Pierce counties on single-family, multi-family, industrial and commercial projects. The experts at SGE have confidence to deliver on projects from single-family home sites to complex multi-phased residential subdivisions across hundreds of acres urban or a mixed-use, mid-rise apartment building with hundreds of units.

Our team takes pride in producing high quality work, paying excellent attention to detail, using innovative designs, and being very responsive to our clients’ requests. Our creative and flexible approach to design and willingness to think outside the box, allows us to provide clients with solutions that reduce project costs and increase property value while meeting code and technical requirements. Value-engineering an existing design to save on construction costs or schedule is of particular value to SGE’s clientele.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of experience drafting civil engineering drawings for land development.
  • Experience working in the AutoCAD and Civil3D environment
  • Associates degree or technical certification in a relevant field such as architecture, engineering, or experience considered sufficient to address the demands of the position
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering construction drawings and incorporate redlines from engineers and project managers
  • Prefer experience related to residential and commercial land development
  • Experience with drafting for signing and striping, illumination, and temporary traffic control a plus
  • Ability to interact, collaborate and communicate with project teams in a positive and proactive manner
  • Ability to communicate thoughts and concepts with team members
  • High motivation to learn
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to visualize geometry and grading in 3-dimensional space
  • Disciplined with checking work and maintaining attention to detail
  • Consistent focus on quality and knowing/meeting company standards
  • Team-oriented, self-motivated, hardworking, highly ethical, and dependable employee
  • Ability to use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and Bluebeam preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of a CAD manager, create preliminary and construction plan sets for residential and commercial developments. Plan sets include preliminary plat plans, horizontal control plans, grading plans, erosion control plans, drainage plans, sewer plans, water plans, details and notes, proposed and existing road profiles and sections, profile existing and proposed utilities.
  • Perform research, as required, to ensure the use of the most recent standard drawings as issued by various municipalities and sewer and water districts, and WSDOT.
  • Produce drawing packages for submittals.
  • Work well with others and be willing to take direction and/or correction from coworkers.
  • Communicate with supervisor, senior designers, and engineers regarding task execution.
  • Identify conflicts in design and communicate solutions with PMs.
