Virtual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist for 2024-2025 school year

School District near : South Dakota (Virtual Position)

Employment Type : Full-Time or Part-Time 1099 contracting position

Position Summary : As a Virtual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing support and instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.

You will collaborate with otherprofessionals to ensure that these students receive the best possible educational experience in a virtual learning environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct assessments to determine the individual needs of students with hearing impairments.
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to meet students' unique needs.
  • Provide virtual instruction and support to DHH students, including using specialized technology and resources.
  • Collaborate with teachers, speech therapists, and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
  • Offer guidance to students on self-advocacy and communication skills.
  • Keep accurate records and progress reports.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in Deaf Education or a related field.
  • Appropriate South Dakota state teaching certification for Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Experience working with DHH students in a virtual or traditional educational setting.
  • Proficiency in using virtual learning platforms and technology.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Empathy and a passion for supporting the unique needs of DHH students.
