Soliant is Hiring a Teacher of the visually Near Orleans, LA

Minimum 1 years visually impaired experience required.

Soliant, in collaboration with local school districts in New Orleans, LA, is currently seeking a dedicated Teacher of Visually Impaired (TVI) for a contract position during the upcoming school year.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the education and development of students with visual impairments.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Teacher of Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification in the state of Louisiana.
  • At least one year of recent experience working with students who are visually impaired.
  • Knowledge of best practices, instructional strategies, and assistive technologies for students with visual impairments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and educational teams.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students' educational needs and levels of visual functioning.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to address students' academic, functional, and developmental goals.
  • Provide direct instruction in specialized areas such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, adaptive technology, and daily living skills.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure that students' educational needs are met in inclusive settings.
  • Adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Provide consultation and support to educational teams regarding accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of services provided, progress reports, and other relevant information.
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other multidisciplinary team meetings as required.
  • Stay current with best practices, research, and developments in the field of visual impairment through ongoing professional development.
