Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
Location: Crystal Lake, IL
Employment Type: Full-Time, contract
Duration: current school year
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Grade Level: Elementary

Requirements:

• Professional Educator License (PEL) or equivalent in Illinois
• EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher, or 3.0 with ISBE (Illinois State Board of Education) approval
• Experience interpreting for elementary students preferred

Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpretation services to support communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educators
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and other school-related activities accurately and effectively
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure the educational needs of deaf or hard-of-hearing students are met
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
