Description

This position is focused mainly on phone triage.

This Triage Medical Assistant will not be working on the floor as a clinical Medical Assistant.

Pay range : $24-$28 based on experience.

Experience : 3-5 years' experience, needed.

Position Summary

Triage is responsible for handling all clinical calls from patients and facilities as well as supporting the physicians and medical assistants when necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Administrative

• Responds to phone calls for test results, medication refills, postop instructions, answering general urology questions.
• Educating patients for procedures.
• Reviews Rx patient request.
• Fill out appropriate FMLA paperwork for patients.
• Pre-cert all imaging and prescriptions for patients.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

Required : MA Diploma

Experience

Preferred : Urology knowledge and experience

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Additional Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the following general knowledge

• Knowledgeable in computer applications including practice management, electronic health record, Microsoft Office, etc.
• Ability to articulate general knowledge of urological procedures
• Knowledgeable in the use computers, faxing, scanning, copy machines and calculators.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and transcripts, based on previous industry experience is highly desirable

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not exposed to extreme outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and / or humid conditions.

On occasion the employee could be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.

The employee can work long hours on phone and computer.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as found in an office environment.
