REPORTS TO: Medical Assistant Supervisor/Office Manager
General Summary
Under direct supervision, performs duties associated with the care of the office patient including but not limited to basic computer skills, documentation of patient information, measure height and weight, understanding of basic medical terminology, work in a team driven enjoinment. May perform a variety of duties in the office with maximum efficiency.
Physical and Mental Efforts
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prolonged walking and standing. Ability to assist with lifting and moving patients. Ability to work in urgent care situations.
Environmental and Working Conditions
Work in a fast-paced environment. Probability of overtime. Travel within Michigan Institute of Urology offices as needed.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Must have a positive, caring approach when dealing with office patients.
Prepares exam room for patient office visits:
Assist patients in wheelchairs including wheeling patient to waiting cars.
Cleans restrooms as needed this includes wiping down the entire toilet, cleaning the bathroom floor, wiping down sinks including handles and faucets. If necessary, downing exam or utility gloves and removing objects from the toilet bowl.
Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions and personal protective equipment.
Demonstrates the ability to properly identify the patient, take weight and height and assist the patient to the exam room and or bathroom.
Demonstrates the ability to clean and complete high level disinfection of cystoscopes.
Demonstrates the ability to learn basic medical terminology.
Demonstrates the ability to perform height and weight.
Demonstrates the ability to write up requisitions for:
o 24 urine specimens,
o Urine cultures
o Cytology/Fish
o UTM/PCR
o Kidney stones
Ability to run a urinalysis.
Mix metrizyme.
Knowledge of cold sterilization including but not limited to:
o Mixing solution
o Handling solution
o Solution parameters and expiration date
o Maintenance of solution logs
Collaborates with the orientation of new personnel as requested and/or assigned.
Maintains confidentiality of patient records.
Ability to assist clerical/front desk staff when necessary.
Demonstrates the ability to work collectively with the urological team including physicians, nurse practitioners, Registered nurses, medical assistants’ front office staff, information management, billing, and surgical boarding.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
· EDUCATION High school graduate or GED
· SKILLS Demonstrates organization, self-motivation, good communication and interpersonal skills. Must have
Basic computer knowledge/skills.
