Softgel Co. is a state-of-the-art softgel, squeeze tube, and tincture manufacturing facility that specializes in encapsulation of human and pet nutrition products. Softgel Co. was recently acquired by Bioriginal, a global manufacturer and marketer of specialty ingredients that improve and enhance the health and well-being of humans and animals.

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for the day-to-day activities related to proactive and reactive maintenance within the plant. The position works as part of a team, focusing on preventative maintenance activities to ensure that production is able to run efficiently and meet deadlines, while ensuring optimal equipment performance.
Responsibilities & Expectations:
•Responds promptly to plant and equipment maintenance needs as required, ensuring all SOPs and standard safety procedures and practices are followed.
•Assists in developing and follows all preventative maintenance programs within the plant, with the goal being to help ensure limited downtime of equipment and machinery.
•Assists in developing equipment maintenance and operation SOPs of equipment as required.
•Working as part of the maintenance team, assists in troubleshooting during line equipment set-ups, and monitors and maintains the equipment for optimal performance.
•Maintains the Company's equipment database to organize work orders, equipment repairs and equipment calibration for validation purposes.
•Works with external vendors and contractors as required to ensure equipment maintenance needs are met.
•Performs equipment inspection and documentation as required.
•Ensures that adequate spare parts and supplies are maintained in-house to allow for quick repairs.
•Works on special projects as assigned to address cost reductions, improved efficiencies and production accuracy.
•Follows all safety policies, procedures and rules, and ensures a safe work environment for all staff.
•Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
•3-5 years of equipment maintenance experience strongly desired, with a preference for experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience working with electro-mechanical operation of a production line (including bottling, packaging and general production) is an asset.
•Post-secondary training in electronics, automation, industrial mechanics or other related fields is an asset.
•Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
•Strong teamwork, organization and communication skills are required.
•Familiarity with HAACP and Good Manufacturing Practices is considered an asset.
•Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are required.
•Strong time management skills, with the ability to work independently are required.
•Good computer skills.
