Location: We are seeking a Banquet Server for Alliant Energy Center.

Principal Function

The Sodexo Banquet Team plays a major role in the first and last impression for our guests. We create a WOW factor by our service standards and professional staff. We provide the catering services for 10-10,000 guests, and our events consist of small meetings, large conventions, banquets, and some social functions. Services may range from casual to formal, including continental breakfasts, passed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, buffets, or highly-coordinated multi-course meals.

The Banquet Server will actively participate in the preparation, set-up, service, break down, and clean-up of catered functions.

Service Requirements:

• Greet and serve guests following guidelines set by the policies/procedures regarding the service of food and beverage.
• Present a friendly and professional demeanor at all times.
• Remain attentive to guests throughout the entire dining experience, adhering to or exceeding service standards.
• Respond to guest inquiries by providing timely and knowledgeable information about the function.
• Read and understand all details of the Banquet Event Order, including menu, timeframe and room set.
• Service functions for all meal times for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and receptions which include buffet and plated service.
• Maintain a presentable environment for the guests, including clearing buffet stations, as well as bussing tables.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Banquet Captain or Management.

Qualification/Skills Preferred:

• Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Demonstrate ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
• Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language used by guests who typically visit the work location.
• Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs. Hours may be extended or may be irregular, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs, push carts and Queen Marys, and carry or lift other banquet equipment including trays.
• Must be able to stand for at least 4 hours.
• Create a safe and accident-free working environment.
• **This is not a tipped position.

Other requirements include but are not limited to:

Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 30 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment. Hours are often extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
