Society St Vincent De Paul is Hiring a St Vinny's Production No Weekends! Near Madison, WI

Division/Location/Department: Processing Center
Reports To: Processing Center Manager and Assistant PC Managers or Team Lead
Pay Grade: Nonexempt, Hourly level 1: $18.08 start, $18.83 at six months
Status and Work Schedule: Full-time w/ 4/10 schedule, Rotating weekday off based on group assignment

JOB SUMMARY:This employee will be key member of the clothing team, which is tasked with sorting, hanging, packing and redistributing donated clothing, linens and accessories to the SVdP thrift stores around Dane County.ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Check items for quality and resale-ability:  style, wear, and cleanliness (no rips, stains, missing buttons or loose threads)
  • Maintain production quotas in one of several workstations, including:
    • Pull saleable items from conveyor belt
    • Hang clothing on hangers
    • Pack seasonal items away in gaylords
    • Price clothing, linens and/or accessories for resale
  • Knowledgeable about fashions, fabrics, styles, and brand names or able to learn after training
  • Perform any tasks needed to keep work area neat and orderly/restock production supplies as needed
  • Able to work cooperatively in a team setting
  • Knowledgeable about items belonging to the Misc department and their resale value and quality
  • Flexible with job changes, willing and able to do other tasks when requested
  • Capable of making speedy and accurate judgments of misc. items based on quality control information received during training or current needs of the stores
  • Help maintain cleanliness of Processing Center, perform assigned cleaning duties
  • Support the effort to create a more inclusive workplace environment

While performing the duties of this job:
  • Employee must have the ability to maintain professional, patient and courteous interactions with a diverse base of customers, donors, clients and other SVdP staff
  • Employee must frequently stand, walk, talk and hear, use hands to handle or touch product, tools, or controls.
  • stand at workstation for 3 hours between breaks for 10-hour shifts
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift/move up to 50lbs with assistance from equipment or another person.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Employee must be able to follow instructions and work autonomously on assigned job duties
  • Employee must be able to work assigned shifts consistently and reliably

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:The Processing Centers working environment may contain dust, debris or allergens commonly associated with all manner of pre-owned clothing, furniture and household goods. Certain areas of the Processing Center are only partially climate controlled.

-48 Hours of SICK time per year. SICK hours are accrued biweekly
