Position: Retail Assistant Manager
Reports To: Retail Store Manager
Reporting to the Retail Store Manager and being a part of our Store Leadership team, the Retail Store Assistant Manager is an important part of our organization as he or she assists the store manager in providing guidance to the cashiers and merchandising team that enables the Society to serve our customers while meeting financial objectives to support our outreach programs. The Retail Store Assistant Manager is the organization’s face to those who visit our thrift stores to shop. As such he or she plays an important role in helping us meet financial objectives and bring customers back to our stores.
JOB DUTIES:
Assists the Retail Store Manager in the following duties:
· Prioritizes, schedules, and delegates work assignments and directly supervise the retail team.
· Recruit, lead, motivates, and develops staff to meet the current and future needs of the department and The Society. Challenges others to develop as leaders, while serving as a role model and mentor.
· Assists with creating, training, and enforcing departmental policies, procedures, and instructions. Ensures compliance with organizational policies, procedures and protocols while maintaining a focus on the Society’s mission.
· Assists the Retail Store Manager with setting and communicating performance expectations for the team. Provide feedback as needed when expectations are not met.
· Ensure that cashiers accurately charge customers for purchases made and that the cashiers balance their cash drawers daily.
· Create attractive sales floor displays to ensure we meet sales objectives that will support our ministry.
· Assist Merchandise Pricer on pricing unusual or higher priced merchandise.
· Interact with customers on the phone and in person.
· Leads staff in providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming impression on donors and customers.
· Develops and maintains successful collaborative relationships at all levels in the organization and contributes to a positive team atmosphere; implements viable ideas.
· Responsible for maintaining a safe and well-organized workplace and complying with all state and federal safety and health regulations as well as company safety policy and procedures.
· Maintain a clean and safe work environment for co-workers and our customers.
· Other duties as assigned.
