Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. This position requires a strong passion for animals and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with various procedures and treatments
- Perform animal restraint during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Collect and prepare laboratory samples for testing
- Provide basic grooming services such as bathing and nail trimming
- Monitor animal patients before, during, and after procedures
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and progress
- Clean and maintain examination rooms, kennels, and other areas of the clinic
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with animals is required
- Knowledge of animal behavior, handling, and restraint techniques
- Familiarity with veterinary medical terminology
- Ability to perform basic laboratory procedures such as blood draws and vaccinations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
