A Day in the Life of:

As a member of our team, you will report to the Project Manager. You will assist in the day-to-day operations of Grounds Maintenance Operations at the Defense Supply Center Richmond. Your people skills will come in handy and will help you to maintain fantastic professional relationships with your fellow team members and those that we serve.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Assists in creating, developing, and implementing work schedules
• Assists Project Manager (PM) with monitoring and controlling expenses
• Documents and completes employee accommodation sheets
• Assists in supervising and training workforce to ensure compliance with PWS and quality standards
• Works with Crew Leaders to monitor and track issues and unusual situations
• Identifies general areas of training needed and consults with Project Manager
• Conducts and documents monthly safety training
• Will enroll and complete one of the following chosen certifications by the Project Manager; (Commercial Pesticide Applicator, ISA Certified Arborist) within 12 months
• Conducts daily inspections, distribute deficiency reports weekly, and hold crew leaders accountable for correcting deficiencies in a timely manner
• Provides supervision for the Mechanic while maintaining repair and maintenance records

Requirements and Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred
• Certified Pesticide Applicator (Preferred)
• Five years management or supervisory experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, and horticulture
• Strong working knowledge of horticulture, grounds maintenance, landscaping industry standards, methods, and procedures
• Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new skills based on latest technology
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
