Title: Assistant Controller

Position – Assistant Controller North America.

The Assistant Controller position will report to the Director of Corporate Controlling and be responsible to the President – MD North America as well. The Assistant Controller is accountable for administrative oversight and operations of the North American Subsidiary, including the development of short and long- term financial plans, and the running of standard business reports. The Assistant Controller will assist the Controller in the management and control of the financial close process, and the oversight of planning, coordinating, and managing the production of consolidated annual and quarterly financial statements in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS. The Assistant Controller will support the Controller and President - Managing Director in developing strategies for profitable growth. In addition, the position is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring processes, procedures, and internal controls to protect company assets.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and CPA certification.
  • 8 years of overall combined accounting/finance experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis.
  • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.
  • Strong knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Advanced computer skills specifically in Microsoft Applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as well as ERP applications
  • Proficiency with accounting software.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • MBA or Master’s in Accounting preferred.
  • Experience in auditing, cost control accounting and/or as a Finance Manager.
  • Experience in private and public companies is a plus.
  • Experience in software and/or consulting businesses desired.

The principal responsibilities for the Assistant Controller position are as follows:

  • Works closely with the regional leadership team to develop strategies to meet short and long-term goals.
    Identify and drive cross-functional cost efficiencies including resource optimization, and global capacity planning.
  • Manage and partner with any third parties to which finance related functions have been outsourced.
  • Prepare short and long-term cash flow projections.
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable balances and accrue necessary reserves against uncollectible customers.
  • Complete and file required sales and other taxes as required.
  • Responsible for analyzing financial statements monthly and reporting variances which will be used in Monthly/Quarterly reporting.
  • Manage all day-to-day accounting operations including functional responsibility over accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting and treasury management.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of accounting principles and procedures in full compliance with GAAP, and IFRS including guidance on leases and revenue recognition, as well as internal reporting requirements.
  • Manage other regulatory and tax compliance procedures.
  • Preparation/oversight of monthly account analysis of all balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings to review day to day activity, monthly results and discuss the organization's financial policies and procedures.
  • Actively participate in the design, development, and implementation of process improvements that create efficiencies and improve the integrity of the company's financial reporting system.
  • Implements, maintains, and documents internal controls, provides suggestions for improvements.
  • Serves as a key point of contact in external audits.
  • Prepare or direct preparation of accurate, timely financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports.
  • Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting.
  • Must be able to communicate financial information into sound business language and provide management with information vital to the decision-making process.
  • Develop and monitor business performance metrics.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance.
  • Record newly acquired capital assets and monthly depreciation values as well as distributing capital asset and depreciation reports.
  • Maintain and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for Senior Management.
  • Evaluate accounting and internal control systems.
  • Proven experience in financial project management.
