Per-Diem
OBJECTIVE SUMMARY: Assist the rehab department in a variety of functions as identified by Rehab manager and staff. This position will work closely with the Rehab staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Provide restorative care to patients that are identified as appropriate for restorative treatments by the rehab clinicians. Examples include: ambulation practice in room/halls, path-finding activities in the facility, socialization and encouragement of individual exercise programs that do not require additional skilled intervention from therapist. When time permits, provide additional ambulation support to patients as recommended by rehab clinicians.
• Provide coverage to outpatient front desk during second shift and when full-time Rehab Office Coordinator (ROC) is unavailable. Refer to Rehab Services Coordinator job description for a comprehensive list of responsibilities during these periods. When time permits, provide additional support to the ROC.
• Assist patients in transitioning to and from the rehab gym for treatment sessions, whether they are inpatient and need assistance from their rooms or outpatient and require assistance from the parking lot.
• Assist during scheduled therapy sessions that necessitate additional physical support but do not mandate the presence of a second skilled therapist.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the gym, including but not limited to tasks such as wiping down equipment and treatment tables, changing linens, organizing equipment, cleaning hydrocollators, handling shipments.
• Ensure the inpatient and outpatient office spaces remain clean and free of clutter.
• Keep the dayroom tidy, which involves organizing and maintaining storage closets, watering plants, organizing and maintaining puzzles and magazine tables, etc.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in storage areas including those within the inpatient closet, inpatient rehab gym, and outpatient rehab gym.
• After pediatric treatments, clean the pediatric room and prepare it for next treatment session.
• Keep copies of patient documentation, such as HEPs and Welcome Packets, readily available for distribution.
• Assist recreational therapists with group activities.
• Create and post a monthly activity schedule on 1st of month each month.
• Serve as an equipment lifting expert available for technique consultations.
• Orders supplies and restocks the department as necessary.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to responsibilities, working diligently to support the rehab staff and support patients’ well-being and rehabilitation.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School graduation or equivalent.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Associates Degree or higher. Certification by the State of Washington as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of one (1) year experience in a skilled care setting.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: One year acute care hospital experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS:. BLS certification, SCLD preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposed to all patient infectious disease and body fluids. Function in emergencies and incidents
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Assist with moving and lifting patients involving pushing and pulling. Frequent demand for stooping, crouching, bending, lifting, reaching, heavy lifting over 50 lbs. Able to lift and transfer patients, using good body mechanics. Natural or corrected near-visual acuity is necessary to read patient charts, physician order and to read dials, and gauges on equipment. Natural or corrected hearing is necessary to communicate effectively with others to distinguish changes in patient’s heart rate.
