In 2022 Snap One made the strategic decision to acquire Clare Controls to drive even greater business value for Partners. In addition to providing a leading security solution and a full line of ClareVision surveillance cameras and NVRs, Clare delivers a value-focused control solution, featuring the ClareOne panel, that makes smart living more accessible for Partners and their customers.

We currently have a need for a full-time Engineering Tech located in Sarasota, FL. This is not a remote position. We are looking for people who thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial, technology-driven culture and are tenacious about achieving results. The successful candidate will have 3 years of experience in installing security intrusion systems as well as experience testing software applications. This individual will have some experience testing control systems, experience testing mobile user interfaces, have some familiarity with various communication protocols, and be detail oriented.

The Engineering Tech will be responsible for setup, testing, qualification, documenting issues, making performance and user recommendations, and so on, of new software and hardware products. Testing will range from feature testing to stress and regression testing for all Clare products. The person will be expected to work closely with the Clare Controls hardware and software engineering teams. This person will be expected to “wear many hats” and often be engaged in problem solving outside of typical duties.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop test plan documents and manual test cases
• Review functional requirements and designs specifications for low to moderately complex changes/systems for completeness and testability
• Setup and maintain lab for functional and performance testing
• Conduct testing using manual, scripting, or automated processes
• Escalate issues in daily stand-up meetings and coordinates with development team
• Conduct root cause analysis and correlation of other system and/or problems of moderate complexity
• Communicate accurate status of ongoing work to stakeholders
• Recommend improvements to the testing processes to increase efficiency
• Recommend product improvements for Intrusion Security System

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• At least 1-3 years of experience in installing security intrusion systems as well as experience testing software applications
• Demonstrated ability to work and thrive in environments with multiple competing priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working in a group
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• The ability to work under pressure is a necessity

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience installing and/or testing Intrusion Security systems
• Familiar with Home Automation/Control Systems
• You really, really like to break software
• You are familiar with home networks and router settings
• Familiar with analog and digital electronics
• Familiar with Z-Wave technology
• Strong Mac and Linux Skills
