The primary function of the Sorter Lead is to separate materials into various defined grades of varying commodities in a safe efficient and productive manner while being a mentor and lead to other sorters. Sorters may work on a sortline or on the floor separating and cleaning the commodities. This is the first line in generating quality products for our end users.

Primary Duties

• Maintain a safe working environment by following job and task guidelines.
• Knowledge or ability to learn different grades of materials.
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift, and turn as needed to sort the different materials.
• Maintain a clean and orderly working area free of any trip or fall hazards.
• Assist with cleanliness and organization projects in the facility.
• Ability to maintain appropriate hand speed for sorting commodities.
• Communicate with co-workers and supervisors effectively.
• Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SKNA employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.
• Lead and mentor other and new sorters in the sorting process.
• Lead, mentor, and perform housekeeping duties for the facility as needed.
• Be capable of performing LOTOTO and teaching for the sort line.
• Be capable of using the shredder.
• Be capable of performing LOTOTO on the shredder.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Adequate and reliable transportation.
• Reliable attendance.
• Dexterity with hands and arms to sort appropriately.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
