What you’ll do
Work from drawings, sketches, and a minimum of instruction.
• Assemble parts in proper sequence, place bracing in correct location to minimize distortion.
• Perform welding operations such as arc, MIG, TIG brazing and burning in all positions on a variety of metals.
• Operate drill press to make parts for fabrication.
• Utilize crane and material handling equipment.
• Use precision measuring tools.
• Follow instructions and established procedures.
• Record measurements, record pertinent information as required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Read and interpret prints, including welding prints
• Weld per SMAW, GMAW, GTAW standards; vertical up, vertical down, and horizontal
• Plasma arc cutting
• Air carbon arc cutting
• Pipe bending, fitting, welding, and threading
• Use horizontal and vertical saws, torch, and cut off wheel
• Set up and operate all welding machines, be able to do basic troubleshooting
• Set up and operate all machines in the fabrication area, be able to do basic troubleshooting
