Experienced Mechanic/Millwright Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical duties on equipment as instructed, in accordance with QA, health/safety and OSHA requirements and policies
• Disassemble, assemble and test equipment at the direction of the Operations Manager
• Perform fabrication of lightweight apparatus and/or structures used in the maintenance of equipment
• Interface with project management, engineers, technical personnel and other staff as needed to complete projects.
• Perform housekeeping and maintenance activities as required
• Provide any additional support where needed

Job Qualifications

• An experienced mechanic with minimum of 10 years of experience with primary responsibility for refurbishment, reconditioning and spare parts in a job shop environment
• Knowledge of disassembly, assembly, machining and fabrication methods including MIG, SMAW & TIG welding practices
• Knowledge of overhead crane, lift trucks and maintenance including hoisting and rigging techniques 
• Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic & piping systems
• Knowledge in the use of hand and power tools
• Must be able to read prints and drawings
• Must have the ability to follow step-by-step procedures with accuracy
• Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
• Must have the want to continue learning, and work alongside/learn from experienced and international colleagues on our equipment
• Must have a valid driver's license
• Education Requirements: Vocational or High School; Specialized Technical Training; or combination of training and experience
• Knowledge of Blast Furnace equipment is a plus
• Previous supervisory skills are a plus

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following: 

• Remain in a standing or walking position for extended periods of time
• Stoop, kneel and bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis 
• Lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception

Schedule

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm, with 30 minutes for lunch
• Occasional Saturdays / OT
