Job Description

STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is searching for a Purchasing Manager to join the team. This position develops and sources new suppliers, negotiates prices and contracts, and develops supplier transition plans. Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing materials, equipment, and supplies in an organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement function.
  • Supports Operations by ensuring adequate materials delivery, as well as schedule/demand and pricing communication.
  • Identifies and manages key supplier selection activities.
  • In conjunction with the Quality Manager or designee, develops appropriate supplier performance measurements, facilitates consistent measurement, and manages goals.
  • Develops, leads, and supports cost reduction initiatives.
  • Prepares work instructions and procedures specific to purchasing related roles.
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability.
  • Evaluates vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure optimal quality, price, and delivery are achieved.
  • Monitors ERP procurement reporting system to ensure company requirements are met.
  • Recruits and maintains suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders and change order notices.
  • Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Reviews contracts, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
  • Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of commodity.
  • Assigns procurement requests to the appropriate personnel.
  • Arranges for disposal of surplus or obsolete materials.
  • Consistently, regularly, and dependably at work and on time.

The Individual

Supervisory Responsibilities - Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience - College or University degree preferred; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills - Individual should have knowledge of ERP manufacturing software and be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Access and Excel.

Other Qualifications - Ability to travel 10% of the time if needed.

Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
