Your Opportunity The Smithfield Way Continuous Improvement Manager facilitates the implementation of all facets of The Smithfield Way to include both the M-IQ process and the minimum outlined plant facility requirements. Responsible to improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes to drive efficiencies, reduce cost and increase product quality attributes, and deliver the charter requirements. Provides advisement and recommendations to top management personnel to influence culture change to the new processes and methodology. Core Responsibilities Will lead an implementation team for the Smithfield Way, possibly at multiple locations simultaneously, and ensure proper deployment of the program, and then ensure it is sustained to meet the program governance. Facilitates the deployment of The Smithfield Way tenants within the facilities in which they are responsible. Establish and develop systems which reinforce and encourage data-based decisions to drive value stream enhancement and continuous improvement. Works across the organization to ensure consistent approach, format, data integrity, and decision processes are deployed and in use throughout the facility. Conducts problem solving activities with the plant team to troubleshoot manufacturing/business and operational issues. Lead, coach, and mentor multiple improvement teams to affect rapid change. Completes advanced data collection and analysis for process mapping. Facilitates training/workshops to drive cultural change. Optimize manufacturing processes to attain product quality, efficiency, and process repeatability. Help drive visual management into all aspects of the manufacturing environment Conducts compliance audits, program evaluations, and reviews to drive results with the fortitude to ensure change is sustainable. Partners with Operations and Engineering teams to monitor and evaluate effectiveness of newly implemented tools and tenants. Will provide weekly reports and conduct periodic presentations to Senior Leadership. Strategic thinking skills, and the ability to effectively translate strategy into operating methodology and results. Work with corporate C.I. staff in the development of strategic plans to further the performance of the business through the utilization of Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 5 years’ relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required. Demonstrated understanding of Continuous Improvement and lean manufacturing principles. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced level knowledge of Excel. Solid analytical skills, with practical operational knowledge. Demonstrated ability to identify and implement continuous improvement plans, lean manufacturing initiatives, 5S, value stream mapping, statistical process control to drive change. Excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability. Demonstrated planning, organization, and execution skills. Strong interpersonal and technical skills. Knowledge of SAP is preferred. Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, innovation, and ability to operate autonomously. Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time. Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment. Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
